Use as an FTP server, media storage server and backup critical data. The included backup software allows for scheduling unattended backup tasks, self executable backups, encrypted backups, compressed file backups and much more. Setup is simple and only takes few minutes to be up and running. Administering the Simple NAS is done through a web based interface by logging onto the unit via your web browser.

2 of 5 Bad tech support for mediocre product Thursday, March 23, 2006

When you copy large files or a large quanitity of files to the drive, or more than one person is accessing the drive at once, the files disappear in Windows Explorer. You then have to restart the device in order to see your files again. Tech support offered no help. They chalked it up to a Win XP issue with mapping drives, which is a joke. The problem is more likely the SMB version on the device. They sent me one response, then I replied and have not heard back from them. It has been two weeks.
Utilities are very basic, good for the everday person but not so good for the techie.
Basically a waste of money for anyone trying to get reliable performance out of this thing. Was this review helpful?
