| | | TRITTON AXPC True USB 5.1 PC Gaming Headphones with 8 strategically placed speakers, adjustable microphone
The AXPC head phones (TRI-UA512) by TRITTON gives you true 5.1 surround sound in the comfort of a headphone for use on your PC through USB. AXPC has a total of 8 speakers, 4 in each ear cup and a adjustable microphone that is perfect for online gaming or internet calling. Your computer does not need to have a 5.1 sound card, the AXPC includes a built-in 5.1 audio controller. Sound is separated into 8 speakers, four in each ear cup (Center, Front, Rear, and Subwoofer). Integrated into the external audio controller is a specialized chipset that amplifies each of the 8 individual speakers. Software is included to simulate your audio source from Stereo to 2.1 or up to 7.1 surround sound. Select from 23 Different EQ settings to customize your listening experience whether it is a game, music or a movie.
Each ear pod consists of 4 speakers, a dedicated front speaker, center speaker, rear speaker and subwoofer. This means when playing a game or movie with 5.1 sound the AXPC delivers true 5.1 sound. Others may claim 5.1 sound but it is simulated or emulated which means you will never get the true 5.1 sound like it was meant to be heard. Inline controls allow you to adjust the volume, mute and microphone mute.

4 of 5 Great Headset but.. Wednesday, March 04, 2009 Steve from Hudsonville, mi
This is a great USB headset, just make sure your computer has enough power flowing through the USB ports. I have a G15 keyboard that also sucks power, so when i plug the headset in it doesn't give all the bells and whistles. Would still recommend for anyone who doesn't have a G15 Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good product, but they are still headphones. :) Saturday, November 29, 2008 A Customer from Seattle, WA
I am pretty pleased with the headphones. They are well build, and worked perfectly on my Mac Pro (bootcamp). They installed just fine and they are easy to plug-in an take out without any issues in XP. They detect well once they are installed so I can easily swap between my main sound system and the headphones.
The sound quality is nice, they are pretty close to my Sony studio headphones, but not as good as my Bose headphones. But my Bose headphones are not Surround. The surround sounds works very nicely. They have nice simple settings that are tweak.
My main complaint is the multiple volume controls are easy spin and if you actually try to mute the mic with the button you can easily mess up our settings. Pretty minor. They are a touch heavy, and can feel a little large, which is weird for me because I am a big guy. I don't care much for the "subwoofer" which is just rumble on your head. My guess is the Rumble adds some unnecessary weight to the phones...
They do work nicely. I have been playing Left4Dead with them and I am really happy. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great headphones for a great price Saturday, August 09, 2008 A Customer from Wilmington, NC
The headphones themselves are extremely high-quality, though a little lacking in the bass department for my tastes. The included software seems a little amateurish, but has some decent features and settings. Was this review helpful?

The actual hardware for these headphones is fantastic. However, there are two shortcomings. First, the drivers and associated software that control all the audio effects are limited at best. They have all the basic features, but limited 'tweakability'. Second and more importantly, Tritton has the worst Customer Support I've seen in years. I've had an open trouble ticket for over 10 days now with absolutely no response. Their 'self-help' info (such as FAQ) contain virtually no actual content. The Live Chat support option has been offline every time I've checked, and I've checked at every hour of the day and night. Finally, I got fed up and called the 800 number, after waiting in a short queue I was only able to leave a message. Tech support by phone wasn't even available during normal business hours. I suspect the entire company consists of three guys working out of a garage somewhere. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Great Headphones, but power hogs Tuesday, September 25, 2007 John D from Chicopee, MA
I bought these headphones because I wanted a durable, well-made piece of equipment that would last me. These headphones fit the bill. I have a slightly larger cranium than most, so I was concerned if these would fit, but the way they are constructed made it very easy to wear.
Initially, I was having a ton of issues. I have a USB keyboard, mouse, printer and card reader. When I plugged the headphones in, I would get sound, but the mike wasn't working. The system (under Windows XP) was complaining about USB power. I bought a powered USB port and viola! They worked immediately.
I would recommend these to any true gamer out there. The stereo surround sound is amazing, Sounds are crisp and easily heard. Immediately go to their website and download the newest drivers and you will be ready to go. Was this review helpful?

I purchased these headphones for the surround-sound effect while playing a game. Installation was fully idiot-proof and performance is great. Long-term wearing is not comfortable for me, but they are slightly big for my smaller-than-average head.
The best feature I've found in using is that they automatically take over from your existing sound-card when plugged in. So I leave them unplugged normally, but if someone is sleeping or I want privacy I can plug them right in they take over. Was this review helpful?
