5 of 5 great surround sound Tuesday, March 24, 2009
A Customer from lincoln, ne

Very comfortable headset! Like the fact that there's a detachable mic, everything seems durable. Works great for those looking for a gaming headset...I use it with the xbox 360 and love it!

Jose from California
Not the cheapest set of headphones, but on the lower end of 5.1s. Not designed with music in mind, but great for movies and games, with clear voice com. "G9" sound card adapter is terribly short, so looking forward to upgrading to fiber. Moving rooms from fiber to fiber will require moving audio controller as well as accopanying power adapter (large plug).

5 of 5 Spectacular Headset!! Wednesday, November 19, 2008
Christopher from Cockeysville, MD
My wife hates the sound of my "stupid video games" so I purchased these to play games with sound again. These headphones delivered on all expectations. GREAT SOUND! GREAT VOICE COMMUNICATION! The headset doesn't come with many instructions so I advise to go to the manufacturer website for FAQ reference. Set-up is easy. Just plug and use. There is some tweeking that can be done to maximize sound quality but the overall sound is clear with deep bass. The voice chat was a little confusing at first but the online resources helped me get that running properly. The mic is flexible so mic position is no problem. This headset is great for online gaming as the 5.1 really helps pinpoint enemy location. The little sounds I couldn't really hear before are clear now. I was using a home theater system before. But these are a great choice if you like gaming with headphones or are just trying to keep everyone happy and the sound low. I would reccomend this set. The price is good. The quality is great. I was wondering why these had mostly great reviews. Now I know.

5 of 5 Best for the money Monday, August 18, 2008
A Customer from Atlanta, GA
This is by far the best gaming headset I've ever purchased. It completely blows away any of the Turtle Beaches I've owned. 5.1 surround out of the optical cable is the way to go. One year after I purchased the headset the mic broke. I called Tritton to buy another and they sent me one for free. The customer service is fantastic. I will be buying the new tritton's when they come out.

4 of 5 Surround effect-not so pronounced. Saturday, May 17, 2008
Doug Currie from Olive Branch, MS
These are cool headphones. Long cord, good features, seem sturdy. As far as performance, the surround channel information was not as distinctly perceived as surround (behind you) info. I think this is due to the fact that movies/games are mixed on speakers and not headphones, so not really a fault. You have to fiddle with the surround delay function to give you better perceived distance, etc. The inline knobs should be marked with a contrasting color, so you can tell which knob you're tweaking... Rumble effect was cool, but drivers can't be large enough to produce full range of bass, specifically just above the frequencies that the rumble function accentuate, so you miss that a little. For me the extra controls are GREAT, but for the average Joe/Jill, might be tough to figure out. Overall, these are pretty cool, if you want to watch movies or play games, without disturbing others. They are reasonably priced, given the whiz-bang nature of their performance, but still don't rival an all-in-one speakered surround system for the same price.

5 of 5 Great phones For pwnin nubs in fps Monday, April 21, 2008
Blunted Ninjah from phoenix
These headphones are amazing. They Let you tweak virtually all settings you can imagine , even delay times ( they dont explain the delay settings well i.m.o but you can find info easily online ). If i have one complaint it is that the cord from the mic to the controller (360) is soooo flimsy and 2 of my friends who own them had this break (they will replace it if they break) but i just wrapped they cord in tape to strengthen it, so i really doubt it will happen. Duct tape fixes anything :)

5 of 5 really good headphones Monday, December 31, 2007
codyafink from cincinnati, OH
OVERALL: when i first got these (nice, fast shipping too) i was pretty excited. you get alot of stuff for the $100 i paid. setup is very easy. the only thing i had trouble with is hooking it up to my 360. but it was my fault not trittons, because the fiber optic cable has little plastic protectors over them when you first get it so it didnt read the signal. i called them up, they were very nice and fast. i told him about my problem and he told me about the plastic protectors. it then worked great. the bass is really powerful. plus, these things can get VERY loud. the surround sound is crazy. i can always hear if im about to be snuck up on from behind in halo 3. email me if you have any questions. these are damn good headphones. i would recommend them to anyone. PROBLEMS: some of the few problems are: 1. you cant really hear yourself talk, especially when theres big explosions. 2. its hard to hear others talk when theres big explosions 3. the microphone included does not work on my computer as a mic. the jack that goes into the 360 controller is too small. 4. you need to have surround sound inputs in your computer for these to work on it. i have a 5.1 sound card so they work on mine but maybe not everyones.

5 of 5 Awesome Gaming Headset Friday, December 28, 2007
A Customer from Seattle, WA
I got this headset about a week ago, and it exceeds my expectations. The sound is clear and full, and after taking some advice on adjusting the the different volume levels, other's voices on Xbox Live come in perfectly as well. If you are a competitive gamer, then these are a must.

5 of 5 TRITTON AX360 Tuesday, December 04, 2007
A Customer from Pierson, Michigan
This headphone set is very cool. I keep telling friends that it is almost as if putting these on allows you to dip your head directly into the television. The only experience I have had with them is playing HALO III. So far this is one of the coolest XBOX related accesories I have purchased. The only complaint that I have so far is that the opening music of the game seems very loud and distorts. It may just be that I need more practice seting these up. I recommend these to everyone that I know.

5 of 5 Awesome Headphones Monday, December 03, 2007
PILK from Caledonia, MI
I purchased these headphones for the sole purpose of being able to game at night while my wife and kids were sleeping. Though I haven’t tried many surround sound headphones, this pair did not disappoint! And though some may not like the fact that they don’t really do much noise cancelling, I like this feature (or lack there of) because if my wife calls my name or the kids wake up I can still hear them (faintly).<br /><br /> As others have mentioned, there is a lack or information in the manual, but having no knowledge in this area I was able to configure it to my liking (though for most the base settings should be fine). And I’ll also admit that the microphone jack on the headset looks really fragile, but it seems to hold up just fine.<br /><br /> It took me a little bit to get used to the audio when chatting since it seems a little hollow at first. I play a lot of Halo 3 and once my ears got used to the different voice chat (compared to Microsoft’s headset) I was golden.<br /><br /> <strong><font color="red">This headset WILL help you become a better gamer</font></strong>…you’ll be able to hear where they are shooting you from or if someone is coming up behind you (this has saved me many of times now). I’ve even heard sounds that I’ve never heard before (since before I couldn’t crank the volume on my surround sound system due to my family).<br /><br /> <strong>If you’re looking for a surround sound headset that has a microphone feature this is well worth the price!!!</strong>

5 of 5 A great add-on to your gaming system Sunday, December 02, 2007
A Customer from Richmond, VA
After much research I decided on the AX360. You don't realize how good they are until you go back to the headset included with your gaming system. The only reason I gave it a 3 on ease of use is b/c you have to read up on how to setup and use - its not just plug and go. The multiple volume controls take some getting use to. I have 3 volumes set at the same level and adjust only 1 of the volumes. The sounds are very clear and you can hear everthing but remember these are headphones so don't think they will be like a 5.1 speaker system. They totally block out any other sounds (like your wife/mom yelling at you). The price is a little steep but I plan on purchasing a second pair for my other xbox.

4 of 5 excellent, but not perfect. Saturday, December 01, 2007
s1nister from Clinton, Iniana
The AX360 provides a superb 3D audio environment for gaming and 3D virtual worlds. dead-on positional accuracy. The microphone is the best headset mic that I personally have used,(great for voice command in VISTA 64). That being said, they do require a little tweaking of your audio settings, 5 to 30 min., and are not my first choice for strictly music. In music they do not seem to provide a full enough sound for a true audiophile. They do come with plenty of extra equipment. Most people will not need to purchase other cords and adapters etc... bottom line, for gaming or virtual worlds they are well worth the money, and you will be surprised at their ability to pinpoint sounds. If you are only interested in music, there are better choices, But I would fight anyone who tried to take mine away!!

5 of 5 Excellent Wednesday, November 28, 2007
James from Madison, WI
The audio quality is definitely a step up from my previous Turtle Beach set. The plastics have a really cheap feel, but it might be that it's just made to be lightweight. The headphones are very comfortable for lengthy periods, and the vinyl on the ear cups hasn't worn off yet after a month of heavy use like I would typically expect. I had a problem with no audio after connecting them. After looking on Tritton's website, I discovered that all the individual audio knobs on the cord's volume control were turned to zero.

2 of 5 Not as expected Friday, October 05, 2007
A Customer from Canton, Oh
Seems to be a lot of hype on these. Unfortunately I didn't find them that great. Cheaply made (Mostly light plastic parts. Audio is difficult to setup (Manual lacking much info) Serious problems getting technical support. Wish the connectors were not so flimsy. Over all I think they could do better for the price.

5 of 5 Very nice!!!! Tuesday, September 25, 2007
A Customer from Arcadia, CA
I'm no audiophile, but these sound better than all my other headphones. The surround sound is not just a gimmick but really do add to the experience in watching movies or playing games. My only gripe is that I wish the in-line volume control had a master volume instead of only having separate volumes for center/front/surround/bass... it is a bit of a hassle having to adjust four diff volumes everytime I want to up/down the overall volume.

5 of 5 Great 5.1 headphones, but not perfect... Tuesday, September 25, 2007
John from Newport News, VA
I think these headphones are great... definitely a step above stereo headphones as they really do help me when I'm gaming, especially in FPS when I need to hear where there are enemies. The biggest deficit is the bass, but the rumble effect does somewhat offset that deficiency. Those thinking this will top a properly arranged true 5.1 setup will be disappointed as the separation of the different channels is not as great as seen in a 5.1 system. Altogether I've been really happy with the headphones though!

The sound on these is awsome. Well worth the cost for anyone with a Xbox-360 or a surround sound system. The only problem I have is adjustments on the headphones, but thats nothing that I can't look up on the internet.

4 of 5 OUTSTANDING SOUND Tuesday, September 18, 2007
redwolf1 from Mankato, MN
I've placed my MEDUSA 5.1 Home Edition headphones with these. I have to say that these headphones have superior clarity over the MEDUSA's (and they're cheaper). I play a lot of CSS and can tell if a person is above me or below as well as left, right, and back! I thought I could hear a lot with the MEDUSA's. These blow them away! The bass is very present! The reason I did not give them a full 5: The microphone. It seems to be a "thrown on" feature or an after thought. It NEEDS a mute in the volume control section of the cable. Don't get me wrong, the mic works perfectly. It's tacky how it attaches and lacks mute functionality.

5 of 5 Great 5.1 headphones Tuesday, September 04, 2007
Ty from Edmond, OK
I had shopped around quite a bit when I was looking for these. Couldn't pass up the bargain Buy.com had on them. Everywhere else had these for around $119. After using them over the weekend I would have spent twice as much as I did for these. Very impressed with the headphones and with Buy.com. Extremely fast shipping and order processing!

5 of 5 BEST TRUE 5.1 GAMING HEADSET ON THE MARKET Tuesday, August 14, 2007
dareim1 from Pennsylvania
I highly recommend this particular headset to any serious gamer looking to keep the volume confined to your ears. Of course, the headphones produce a great sound quality and most definitely provide you with a distinct advantage while gaming. This occurs both offline and online. The Tritton AX360 experience is a must for any gamer.

5 of 5 Nice headphones, cheap mic Monday, August 13, 2007
John from Raleigh, NC
I have a 5.1 surround system set up in my game room. I bought a set of these headphones for a LAN party some friends were having. I'm going to have to do some more experimentation, but right now, I think the headphones improve my game. You can hear the subtlest sounds clearly and you don't have to worry about turning down the volume of your stereo to avoid the echo effect of your game mic picking up the background sound of your stereo. I read all of the reviews I could find prior to purchasing this set of headphones. One reviewer (I apologize, I can't recall the name or I would give credit here) suggested setting the rear speaker delay to 8ms and the front speaker delay to 2ms. That is what I did, and it works great. Two other friends purchased this same headset for the long weekend LAN party and everyone was very pleased with the set. While they are not noise cancelling, they do a good job of isolating the surrounding noise. The mic is a bit cheap and snaps into a clip on the side of the left headphone. Other than that, this is a quality set of surround sound headphones. As is mentioned in several reviews, don't expect much from the documentation, but the settings are fairly obvious.

5 of 5 great gaming headies Saturday, August 11, 2007
ettniesboy2020 from L.A. california
well i recently purchased the tritton audio xtreme 360 headphones for an upcoming competition i have coming up and i really enjoy them. i can hear the foot steps from enemies from far away and i can easily tell what direction there coming from and there distance. ive even had people call me a cheater cuz i knew where they were the whole time just by hearing them. i also use the headphones to listen to music and there great for that too. the rumble feature is really just like bass. so its nice to have the bass literally shaking my face without disturbing my roomates or my neighbors. only complaints with them is that if your not a stereo jukie the sound setup might be a little confusing but you will eventually figure it out and adjust to fit your needs. one other thing is that the wire from the mic to the headphones is very thin and weak mine has allready been damaged and no longer works. i took really good care of the headphones also. i e-mailed tritton and they should be sending me a replacement mic soon. overall i would say pick these up if your looking for an edge over your oppenent or just for the awswome sound quality.

5 of 5 AX 360 headphones Wednesday, August 01, 2007
devastator from san diego, ca
My name is LGD Devastator. My team has competed and won over $300,000 in the past year. We have tried out many headphones by top companies. I can tell you that Tritton technologies headphones are superior to any other headphones on the market. We tried turtle beaches headphones, which I threw away the first day I used the AX360 headphones. The sound on Trittons headphones are so pinpoint you can hear your enemies running out of their spawn. It’s almost unfair. I’ve been accused of cheating on many servers, but the only advantage I have over others is that I use Trittons AX360 headphones.

5 of 5 A PRO GAMERS DREAM!!!! Saturday, July 14, 2007
A Customer from San Diego, Ca
Playing for a professional gaming organization, our team has tested countless gaming headsets. Finally, our team has found a company that actually understands the needs of casual and pro gamers. The head phones are so crisp and clear, that you can hear footsteps on your left moving away from you, while on your right side you can hear them coming towards you. Simultaneously, you can know exactly how far each set of footsteps are away from you. On top of all of this, the microphone is just as clear as an authentic XBOX live mic. These head phones are truly the best for any gamer that wants a competitive edge!!

4 of 5 Gamers perspective Wednesday, February 21, 2007
ibepaul3 from Toledo, Ohio
Out of the box I was not surprised by lack of information that came with the headset because I read many reviews before making the purchase. It was annoying, but not surprising that you just have to figure it out on your own. So be ready for that. I will say once you figure everything out it sounds amazing. I am a halo 2 person and to hear the train on terminal come from the distance and buzz from one ear through the other is amazing. There is no doubt that the headset has kept me alive many times in game because I heard footsteps behind me or heard an errant melee. 2 Complaints 1. No mute button for your voice. I really can't believe it doesn't have one. Huge oversight. So you just have to unplug it from the controller when you want to tell your wife you love her or answer the phone. 2. No master volume on the headset itself. If you want to turn everything down you have to turn it down one section at a time, and when you have delicately balanced the surround sound you like you dont want to do it that way. Over all I am very pleased with the purchase. I will probably create some sort of mute button with the help of radio shack.

4 of 5 Best personal 5.1 Solution for Gamers Friday, December 15, 2006
Aaron from Milwaukee, WI
If you don't have space for a 5.1 speaker system and can't have the people around you getting in a frenzy over the volume of the system, then the AX360's are your best bet. The packaging is solid and includes everything you need, regardless of inputs or configurations. Since the 360 only features optical digital out via Toslink, I selected that cable and hooked up the little decoder box/amplifier and the 360 AV cable. Step two is to plug it in the surge protector. Step three is to put them on and turn on the 360. Takes two minutes. Now the biggest problem at this point is that there is next to no documentation or instructions. You get a quick-start card that explains the various buttons and switches on the box, bit doesn't tell you what they do really, or how to calibrate the unit. So I pick GoW as the "test" game for my initial try-out. I only had about 15 minutes before I had to go to work, so I was a bit rushed. Right away the rumble-bass feature kicks butt, and I'm only on the menu. I pick Act 1 and as soon as it loads, it's very much Dolby Digital (clear, loud, and in your face). After two minutes, I'm like okay, it's really loud and boombastic, but I'm not feeling the "surround" aspect of the set, and that's the main reason I bought them. An hour and a half later, I get back to the 360 and decide the best course of action would be to amke sure all of the 8 speakers are in fact functioning, so I select "Signs" and it's THX optimizer. Well, the little calibration test on the DVD proves that these are in fact true 5.1 headphones, and the sound is distinct form each channel. I then palyed parts of the movie and I was in awe. Even the littlest sound is clearly heard and envelopes you in a soundscape. The problem? These puppies--and any other surround system for that matter--need to be calibrated. The decoder box has delay settings of 0-15ms for the surround and 0-5ms for the center channels. To try and replicate physical distance between the front and rear speakers, I delayed the rears by 8ms and the center by 2ms. Then, the inline controller on the headphone cord has separate volume controls for each set of speakers (front, center, rear, and bass(rumble)). As i watched the movie, I isolated each one and tuned until all was in harmony. After about 20 minutes the movie was sounding very excellent, and it was time to get back into the gaming. Having had enough of GoW for the moment, I dropped in R6:Vegas and immediately toned down the volume of each of the game's sound setting. As it turns out, everything sound mashed together at the default game volumes. Sound effects, voice and music need to be adjusted accordingly, with music being the lowest of the group and voice/fx being equal. So I get down onto the strip (after Mexico) and it's an aural experience. I tweaked the inline volume slightly and it was like being there. The sounds of chaos, explosions and gunfire erupt all around you, and are correctly replicated. The biggest surprise was how damn forceful and crip the guns sound. Very realistic. I got shotgunned from my blindside and I actually jumped! Needless to say, I was now happy with my purchase. Summary Pros: Very well built and comfortable. Every cable is included, as is a velvet pouch and microphone for Live. Fantastic pure 5.1 Dolby Digital sound after proper calibration time. Includes output for 5.1 speaker systems that don't have built in decoding (such as my Logitech Z-640's). Two headsets can be plugged in to one decoder box. You can't hear your 360. The bass rumble has to be experienced. Cons: Quite possibly the worst documentation ever. If you don't know anyhting about surround sound systems (time-delays, hookups, etc.) you'll be screwed and unhappy. Units are well-built as stated above, but are a bit heavy, but not noticeable after about three minutes. If someone breaks into your house and kills you, you'll never know--these things are air-tight (this is probably only a con for me though ). Not cheap ($130). Not wireless. Overall, if you don't have the room for a 5.1 setup for your 360 or other digital console (PlayStation) and/or can't have a system blasting those around you to death, then these are the ticket. They are much cheaper than Sony or Pioneer models and are just as good, if not better. Like all systems, they need to be properly calibrated before full-time use. While a physical 5.1 system is still the cat's ass, these are the next best thing, and I am quite picky.
