The Tripplite Isobar HT10DBS was a great value on buy.com compared to other online sites and B&M stores ($150 at HHGregg). The Isobar itself is rugged and functions well. I half expected to get some signal attenuation when I connected the satellite cables, but I experienced no problems.
The colored labels that you can see on the isobar in the pictures is poorly done. I might have been under the impression that those were plastic pieces built into the unit, but they are just two stickers. When I opened the box, they were already peeling off. I ended up taking them all the way off and throwing them away.
Its hard to rate the functionality, since as far as I know it hasn't been subject to any surges thus far. I feel completely safe though since they have such a generous monetary guarantee. I didn't see any improvement in my picture, but I don't think I was experiencing any degradation to begin with, so I can't speak to its noise filtering capabilities.
There is plenty of room for plugs and I think it will serve me well. I am happy with this purchase and would reccomend it to others at the price I paid. The company itself is highly regarded as well. Was this review helpful?

Typical of other Iso-Bar products I've used over the years, the quality is excellent, even though production has moved to China. I've had a couple of Iso-Bars over the years sacrifice themselves to gross overvoltage or lightning strikes, but have never had damage to any protected equipment. One note about the cable protection--when I connected a Motorola HD-DVR box (supplied by Cox) through the coax connectors, the box was not able to communicate & I lost all the program guides. The Cox help desk said it shouldn't make any difference, but as soon as I reconnected the cable direct, communication was restored. Was this review helpful?

I bought this Tripp-Lite model to handle power for my new plasma TV, in addition to my home-brew DVR and it's Ethernet connection, DVD player, VCR, and receiver. I also wanted the F-jacks for my CATV coax. I work in IT, where Tripp-Lite has a great reputation for quality protection of computer equipment so I knew this would be a great choice. IMO, Tripp-Lite's products are also worth the extra cost, as they are well engineered and manufactured. I'm not aware of any other retail surge suppressors that have heavy duty steel cases like Tripp-Lite's ISOBAR models. The filters between outlet banks is a huge plus, as I've experienced AC line interference in the past and I don't want it affecting the awesome picture on my new plasma! Its hard to review something as trivial as a surge protector, but I bought this item based on a review at another website that used this item as part of the 'ideal HT system at $25,000'. SO if they decided to use it on that, I thought my mid range $10,000 system would be protected! So I am running this with my 50" plasma, HD DVR, 2 DVD players, AV 7.1 receiver, and XBOX 360. it works great, and more importantly, its rock solid and well built. This thing looks like it can protect surges no problems, and it also has a high value protection in case your equipment is damaged by surges whilst using this. All I can say is go buy this item!
