Not surprisingly, the album is filled with high drama and fantastical themes, whether Malmsteen is presenting a passionate power ballad (the opening "You Don't Remember, I'll Never Forget") or charging through a revved-up, solo-laden tune ("Magic Mirror"). Many of these tracks (including the aforementioned ones) feature vocalist Mark Boals, who belts out lyrics in classic hard-rock style, yet leaves room for Malmsteen's deft and ornate six-string pyrotechnics. Although it doesn't top RISING FORCE, TRILOGY is easily one of Yngwie's best outings. | Producer: Yngwie Malmsteen | Engineer: Ricky Delena |
| | Artist Overview | | Swedish guitar virtuoso Yngwie Malmsteen is considered one of the most technically proficient guitarists in rock history. Thought of by many as the king of shredding--the high-speed, ultra-precise style of metal guitar soloing--Malmsteen combines heavy-metal/hard-rock histrionics with both the compositional grandeur of classical music and a perfectionist technique that borders on flawless. Although his music is often absurdly excessive, there is no denying that, as a solo artist and with his band Rising Force, Malmsteen has set the standard for six-string pyrotechnics from the 1980s on. |
