Poison, Drowning, Claw, Or Knife. So Many Ways To Take A Life.
It is said that halloween is the night when the dead rise to walk among us and other unspeakable things roam free. The rituals of all hallows eve were devised to protect us from their evil mischief, and one small town is about to be taught a terrifying lesson that some traditions are best not forgotten.

"If you can think of a better American horror anthology than this one, I owe you some Halloween candy.  Scott Weinberg, FEARnet
"This slick and twisted effort should enjoy lengthy shelf life as a Halloween perennial.  Variety, Joe Leydon

Editor's Note
A quartet of creepy tales converges in this frightening film. October 31 becomes less of a holiday and more of a horror as terrors come out to play in this movie that stars Anna Paquin, Brian Cox, and Dylan Baker.

Professional Reviews

A.V. Club
"Visually, it's the kind of thing horror fans dream of, full of throbbing oranges and reds." 10/28/2009

Variety
"TRICK 'R TREAT appears to be the work of die-hard fans who studied '70s pics like TALES FROM THE CRYPT and THE VAULT OF HORROR with the same enthusiasm with which film-school academics deconstruct CITIZEN KANE." 11/12/2009

Bloody-Disgusting 8 of 10
Dougherty has been trying to get this film off of his artwork and into theaters for a long, long time now... it was worth the wait. The best way to describe Trick R' Treat is that it reminds me of a live-action NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS, or a film that takes place in the same world. The character designs are colorful, unique and completely unnerving, especially the final 'creature' who torments the old man. The gorgeous set design only added to the atmosphere of the film, really bringing this artists vision to life. Welcome to Michael Dougherty's world... Trick R' Treat is F-U-N. It's a trip back to the '80s when the goal was to excite and entertain, not torment you. Dougherty's film is the type of movie you can bring anyone to, whether it's a date or your kid. It's not overly violent or too funny, it's as Goldie Locks says "just right!" This is the type of film that will ensure you forget about all your worries and will captivate you until the very end (maybe even bring back the spirit of the holiday, which feels long lost). - Brad Miska
