1 of 5 Don't buy it, this camera needs a static IP Wednesday, July 23, 2008 Ed from Roseville, MN
I spend over 3 hrs. talking to Trendnet's tech., they all told me something different in getting it setup for remote viewing. Finally they allowed me to talk to a level 2 tech. he told me right out that it wouldn't work with cable internet, since they all use dynamic ip's. You need broadband to use it, but it wouldn't work remotely using broadband, what good is it, I sent it back! Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good Toy - not much more than that Wednesday, August 29, 2007 A Customer from NY, NY
Is an OK Camera if you are not too serious with your intentions.... However, if you are looking for something that will be up to the serious task of area surveillance then look at some other cameras. Although it would be fair to mention that this camera will start its task as soon as you connect it to the power and network. Was this review helpful?

Camera has a clear picture but pushes the picture very far away, like looking through the wrong end of binoculars. Will do a whole house at 15 yards which means you can't see any detail. I called tech support several times. Waited on hold only to be told no techs were available. They took my phone number and never called me back. They need to offer a lens kit with this camera to make it more functional. The zoom function blurs the picture and you can't tell what your looking at. Even if it did work, there is no way of saving the setting to record. Software that comes with the camera is useless. If you want a camera to show you what your eye sees, this is not for you. The camera lens is made to be put in a small area and show the whole area.

I've been looking for an inexpensive IP camera that I can setup to watch the deer in my backyard. This camera is easy to setup and it works great, I am buying another one today. Was this review helpful?

The TRENDnet TV-IP100 is an excellent IP camera for the price. We have one monitoring our front door. The unit is good down to 2.5 lux, and with a 50w porch light does capture night video quite well. IR LED illumination also worked well for us.
The built in web server accommodates both Active-X and Java based views, so both PC and Mac users can easily view and manage the unit using Netscape or Internet Explorer browsers, and Apple's Safari too.
IPView SE software is included for enhanced PC monitoring implementations. Mac users will need to turn to SecuritySpy or EvoCam for similar capabilities, and in our testing both worked well with the TRENDnet TV-IP100.
While this is an indoor camera it may be used outdoors with TRENDware's TPH-5000 camera housing.
One can also use a D-Link DWL-P200 PoE (Power over Ethernet) adapter with this unit which eases installation greatly. We used one here. Was this review helpful?
