4.7 of 5 It doesn't get any easier than this! 8/21/2010
Reluctant at 1st! from Austin, TX
I've been wanting to get rid of one of my setups, i.e. monitor, keyboard and mouse, to clean up my desk for some time, but was reluctant since I couldn't find any reviews that confirmed that a lower-end KVM switch would work with a WIRELESS keyboard and mouse combo(I was afraid that I'd have to use USB wired KB/MSE) When the price for this unit dropped to the low twenties, I couldn't help myself but to take a chance. If you're looking for confirmation, YES IT WORKS!...with both my Microsoft Comfort Wireless KB/MSE combo as well as my Logitech Laser KB/MSE sets perfectly. I have 4 CPU's connected and it works with ALMOST no issues. Every once in a while one of my rigs won't come out of sleep mode until I push the power button on the case, but overall I'm very happy with this purchase. Only rub is that with cables coming out of every side, it's not the cleanest setup cosmetically.

5 of 5 Includes 4 sets of cables 8/15/2010
A customer from Rogers, AR
This thing works well. I am using it on 2 PCs at a time and looks to work fine. I was happy to know that it cames with all 4 cable sets for all PCs.

4.7 of 5 Was truly plug 'n play setup, works great. 8/14/2010
A customer from SF Bay Area, CA
This was a simple plug stuff in and it works type of setup for me. I'm running two laptop's, one with Windows7 32 bit Professional, the other is XP Professional w/ service pack 3 with no problmes. My chief gripe with this unit is it's cable connection layout. PC1 & PC2 are on the rear, PC3 & PC4 are on the left/right ends, and the monitor, keyboard & mouse output connections are on the front. With it's relatively small rectangular foot print, that 4 way connection layout makes it difficult to position it in a handy place to still be able to operate the manual switching buttons located on the top with the output cables attached on the front and the PC cables coming out on 3 or all 4 sides. That layout is why I didn't give it a flat out 5 star rating.

4.3 of 5 Pretty good 8/12/2010
A customer from Dayton, OH
Item arrived on time. Price is right. There is a delay when you move from PC to PC. Also, the usb devices disconnect and reconnect when switching from PC to PC. Had an issue with a Ubuntu/Linux box, but not with Windows. Had to shutdown and restart box to fix. Item is ok for the price.

5 of 5 great little KVM 8/11/2010
A customer from Snohomish, WA
This is a fantastic design for a USB KVM. I like the few wires and it works well sitting on my desktop.

5 of 5 Worth Every Penny 11/16/2009
Miguel from Imperial Beach, CA
For anyone having to use or control multiple PCs or servers (especially servers) this tool is of graet value worth every penny and it paid it self off the first time we used it when we were trouble shooting some thing in the server and had to switch between our 3 servers. Saves space and time. Buy it if you use 2 or more PCs.

3.3 of 5 Reasonable, cheap KVM switch 6/3/2009
Mark R. from Portsmouth, RI
I bought this KVM switch to replace an aging Belkin KVM that used PS2 connectors, having recently introduced a USB-only Linux system. I ran into difficulties getting the Scroll Lock key to work, once the Linux system (CentOS 5, Gnome desktop) was selected. After much searching, I discovered that the Num Lock key can be used instead of the Scroll Lock key (at least with the Dell keyboard I'm using). I had grown accustomed to the Belkin's nice Scroll Lock + number "direct access" approach to system selection, so having to select/wait through multiple systems is a pain. (The device is within arm's reach, so I've started using the buttons.) I also have observed other quirks, including a noticeable delay while switching systems (USB plug-n-play detection, probably unavoidable) and occasional mouse and keyboard non-response (fixed by switching back and forth between systems, annoying). Overall, I'm mostly satisfied, though not ecstatic with the unit's price/performance characteristics and I like the fact that only one USB connector is required for each switched computer. Frankly, I'd probably go back to Belkin next time.

4.7 of 5 Works fine cross platform 3/4/2009
John from Seattle, WA
The TRENDnet is a fine little USB/non-audio KVM switch. I'm running with a Fedora 10 box, an old Red Hat box, and a Windows notebook when I want the bigger screen. Worked plug-n-play across all the OSes.
NET-NET: nice, low cost, 4-port switch.

5 of 5 Good Value from Trendnet 2/25/2009
John from Victor, New York
Replaced an old PS/2 style with this model from Trendnet. This was very easy to install and setup. Truly plug and play. Took less than 5 minutes to get one desktop and two servers connected. Single cable design (VGA and USB bonded) makes the install clean. The only complaint I have is the design, with the cables coming out of all 4 sides of the unit. Hard to put in a small footprint. Not a huge deal though. Would highly recommend.

5 of 5 Good little KVM at a great price 1/14/2009
from Miami, Florida
This is a great little KVM for the money. I had bought the TrendNet KVM for PS/2 computers, but my needs changed and I needed the flexibility that USB KVMs provide. The unit like all USB style KVM's has the hesitation when switching computers and the keyboard and mouse are recognizd but I have seen it on most desktop KVMs. The only ones that don't do that are enterprise level KVMs and they cost major cash. This come with the cables and you can keep everything nice and tidy. I would buy it again.

4.3 of 5 good basic switch 7/16/2008
from Chicago, IL
It works the way it should. I use it simply for connecting 2 HDMI sources to only 1 available port on my TV. I have not had any problems in the 2 weeks that I have used it so far.
FYI: I am using it with a HD Satellite receiver and a 1080p upconversion DVD player

4.7 of 5 Pretty simple 6/23/2008
Matt from St. Louis, MO
though it may be my bios, when I've tried to use the mouse and keyboard during boot (like hitting F8 to get to safe mode) it doesn't seem to work. When in windows there may be a slight delay hopping between workstations, but...for the price...I don't feel I can complain.

4.7 of 5 Good product overall 4/11/2008
from NJ,NJ
It works great. Wish it was designed corrrectly so that wires will not get tangled. But I think that is best you can get for money spent.

5 of 5 Works Fine w/ Logitech Mouse/Keyboard combo 3/12/2008
from Grapevine, TX
I had very little problem using this product. I had to plug the keyboard/mouse usb cord into the mouse port on the switch, and resync the keyboard's wireless signal. Since then, it has been working fine.

4.3 of 5 cheap and good 12/11/2007
from Coatesville PA
very easy to set up and use. running 3 computers with 1680x1050 resolution. all look really good. switching is quick and easy. very happy with this. the only minor thing is when booting one of the computers, you need to set the KVM to that, otherwise the machine boots with the wrong resolution (Windows XP, might not be an issue with other OSes). definitely worth the money.

3.3 of 5 Just OK 12/8/2007
from Irving, Texas
I have been using KVM switches for the normal mouse and keyboards for years - and I have been postponing switching to USB mouse and keyboards. But I finally switched...on this switch when you switch to the other machines, the other machines basically lose the USB device and when u switch back, it has to re-detect them. This results in lots of beeping noises every time you switch, and there is a time gap (not very much maybe about 1 or 2 secs) before you can use the device. I have also noticed random usb detections and non detections happening while I am just sitting there doing nothing.
I have now started switching between PCs less because of this.

4.7 of 5 Perfect! 11/30/2007
from Broomfield, CO
Installation is as easy as plugging in all the cables. Works the first time without any problem. The buttons on the top provide better convenience than keyboard control, which is also available if you choose to use it. The video is very clean. The only feature that is missing is the audio switching. But I can live without it, for the unbeatable price of $39 after rebate.

1.3 of 5 Incompatible with Dell Optiplex 320 9/13/2007
kleitch from Canton, MI
The TRENDnet TK-207K 2-port and TK-407K 4-port USB switches had two problems in my use of them:
1.When the unit being monitored is turned off the keyboard switching hot key does not work to switch the unit to the other PC (the manual switch on the unit does work, but that requires locating the switch in a location you can reach, not always easy to do).
2.These units do not function properly with the Dell Optiplex 320s for which I purchased them. They will not allow the Dell PC to boot-up/reboot if other connected PCs are running on the switch. I spoke with the TRENDnet tech support and they concluded that the units are not compatible with this PC and need to be returned.

4 of 5 Good solid KVM USB switch 4/10/2007
from Fountain Hills, AZ
this switch works well. i sometimes wish i had gotten a DVI switch versus VGA. the difficult thing with this or any switch is once you cable it up, it is unwieldy. the cables for the monitor/keyboard/mouse come from one side, but due to my desk having a keyboard tray, i have to reverse their direction and go back under the desk. cable are a pain... but this device works well.

4.3 of 5 Almost Perfect 4/4/2007
dave from cambridge, ma
This is an exceptional KVM switch. I'm very pleased. The reasons why I did not give it a perfect rating are:
1. The plugs on every side make it awkward to find a convenient place to put the switch.
2. I've experienced a strange quirk w/ VMWare Player that seems to auto-switch my KVM.
Both of those issues are minor, though, and otherwise I couldn't be happier with this switch. It's almost perfect.

5 of 5 TRENDnet 4-Port USB KVM 3/24/2007
Another Customer from Cleveland, OH
Great product! After struggling unsuccessfully with a comparable Belkin device, I had this working perectly in 10 minutes. Yes the design is flawed and takes up more space than neccessary but I'll accept that as long as it works well.
My mouse and keyboard are both wired so I havent tested it with wireless devices. All 4 OSs are XP.
The recognition delay is only a second or two.
Great price for a KVM that actually works AND includes all cables!

4.3 of 5 Thrilled With This Box! 3/21/2007
from Ashland, MA
All four ports are in use here in my (home) office: one to an old Pentium II workstation (with an archaic USB port I'd never tried out before), two to PIII-based laptops, and a fourth to a Mac Mini with a DVI output. My "head units" are a Kinesis Essential keyboard (with USB adaptor), a Kensington Technology Expert Mouse trackball, and a Samsung SyncMaster 205BW, which has a DVI input (direct from my Mac Mini) plus the usual VGA one. Aside from a shortish delay when switching the KVM between computers, it works great, and doesn't seem to require a display connection for the USB cables and switching to work, which is something I'd worried about. When I switch to the Mac Mini, the Samsung detects lack of VGA signal and automatically switches to the DVI input; going in the other direction, I simply press one of the buttons on the monitor to tell it to switch back to VGA. One of the laptops (running Fedora Core 6) gets along great with the Samsung's config, but only once I configured the BIOS to use "CRT only", not both LCD and CRT. (I tried fiddling with X's config a bit, no joy, I'm not an expert at that though.) I'll try that with the other (running FC3) later; in the meantime, the Samsung alerts me that the config would work better if changed when I switch to the FC3 laptop; pressing "Menu" dismisses the alert.

5 of 5 TRENDnet 4-Port USB KVM Switch 3/16/2007
from Charlotte,N.C.
Excellent product.
Let's regress:
Buy.com is not really clear that this product is
shipped with 4 separate cables. To support 4 pc's.
They have it spec'ed, blurred with ALL the spec's,
so re-read.
I ordered it Tues. Noon & it arrived Friday am via Fed ex
and I live in charlotte,nc. For the shipping I used the "budget"
cheapest/free, you have to click the option when filling out the order. Otherwise they kick you to a higher ship/cost.
I run several different platforms with various boxes, I have
a Samsung lcd SyncMaster 930b, Gyration wireless keyboard,
Logitech Cordless TrackMan Wheel (8 yrs old) and I don't see
any lag when switching pc's, unless you call a 1 sec delay a delay?? ALSO, the trendnet came with a book and cd. Which
I didn't use b/c everything auto.configured before I could open the book. This replaced a belkin kvm which was junk. Sometimes I had to push the switch button 10 times before it would move.
I should of returned it to Compusa, but the Receipt was lost.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL & I HOPE THIS HELPS.
:-)
