5 of 5 Best 802.11n router I've owned 8/28/2010
Jim Reisert from Brighton, CO
This is the first 802.11n router I've owned that gives me 100% uptime to the wireless PC one floor below me (basement). Previously, only the Linksys WRT54G would do it, and only at 802.11g speeds. It was a cinch to install the DD-WRT firmware. I wish had taken advantage of the free shipping (!@#$%^& default shipping options!).

4.3 of 5 Reasonable with DD-WRT 8/23/2010
A customer from Chantilly, VA
Bought it with intention of loading DD-WRT on it. DD-WRT supports ONLY HW Rev A1.1, but the one I got was HW Rev A1.2. Read the forums and found firmware was compatible. Loaded it up and worked well. Complaints: Can't seem to get higher than a 130MBps connection; sometimes rate would drop to 54MBps. Range doesn't seem all that great - but good enough. I have it upstairs and all my clients are downstairs.
Overall a decent value for what I paid, but I would suggest updating with DD-WRT firmware.

4.7 of 5 Good value and good performance 8/22/2010
Steve from Decatur, GA
So far so good. Changing the security can be a hassle on it at times, but if you do everything in order the 1rst time setting it up everything should go smooth. As for performance, for some reason I get 6Mbps using clear internet plugged in to my computer, but when the signal goes through the router it goes down to 3mbps when its broadcast for some reason. SO for $30 you cant go wrong.

5 of 5 A great value with DD-WRT 8/21/2010
A customer from Mt. Airy, MD
Bought this router to install DD-WRT and use it as a client bridge. Works like a charm. With four Ethernet ports, I can connect 4 devices that are not "wireless ready" to my wireless network. This is a great value compared to other bridges that you can buy. Of course, with DD-WRT, you can also simply use it as a wireless router.

5 of 5 great product 8/16/2010
A customer from St Louis, MO
I've had this router for about 2 weeks. My friends and I have played Starcraft on it; this router is very reliable and we've no drops or router freakouts that have kicked us from a game. I live on a multistory building and I was able to get "good" signal from about 5 floors up which I thought was pretty amazing. I recommend this router to my friends.

5 of 5 TEW-632BRP WIRELESS NETWORK 3/27/2010
Tex from Dayton, TX
This it sold for a 1/3 of retail prtce on trendnet.com, recieved with free shipping in 3 days. It was in retail box and shrink wrapped and never opened. Took less that 5 minutes to set up a wireless network in my home, just use CD-Rom that comes with it, you will be guided step by step, until complete, It configures, and tells you where to plug the two ethernet wires and the power plug and when to do it. No guess work. I am using my laptop now and my download and upload speeds are the same as as my desktop, that is wired, GREAT PURCHASE PRICE AND FREE SHIPPING!!!!!!!!

4.7 of 5 Better than expected Wireless Router 3/13/2010
from Trenton NJ
Had to borrow a PC to initially set up the router, but once it was up and connected, it was very friendly to my MAC systems. For the money it is a very good value.

4.7 of 5 one week with the TEW-632BRP 11/10/2009
DougW from Oklahoma
First a few things. Newer units are H/W version A1.2R. You can use the most recent flash for A1.1R.
nit: it reboots each time you make major changes. It's better to manage this device from a wired connection.
ONLY flash upgrade from a wired port. Never via wifi!
The software, while useful for basic installations, is worthless for more advanced networks. I wanted to keep the wifi behind my existing NAT/Firewall and set up some serious protection.
The key aspect is you will have to access the modem via a wireless connection (or wired direct) and change the "Management, Remote Management" to be active and set the port and IP range. After you do this you can manage it from machines within your network. This is because your network will connect to the WAN port.
You can configure this as an access node only, but that limits capability and should not be done unless you have AP managment hardware.
Frankly I don't like being able to manage the modem over a wifi link, that is a very big security weakness.
The user interface is extensive, so do your research.
Key points
1) hide your SSID to help minimize wardriving attacks
(SSID Broadcast) Disabled
2) use a long passphrase, the longer the better.
3) Set channel width to 20/40
4) turn off UPNP, it's a security risk. Set up your stuff manually.
This unit runs hot. Don't stack it with other routers.

3.7 of 5 Transfer rate dropped really low 10/6/2008
from San Jose, CA
Cons: The router worked well for the first week then the connection speed just dropped to really low, from 130Mbps to 5.5Mbps with my 4950 bgn intel wireless card and also 5100 bgn series. Upgrade firmware is a must to get it work. However, I could not keep the transfer rate to stay higher than 65Mbps and it kept dropping
Pros: Coverage is great. Price is great
Overall: Not up to expectation.

4.3 of 5 Works. Easy to setup 9/15/2008
Jamie from Muskego,WI
I bought this to replace a perfectly working 3+ year old Netgear router. Anticipating an iPod touch becoming part of my family i wanted to have good range out to my yard (for simplify media and remote control). When i connected the TrendNet i left the Netgear installed too, and noticed that on my computer in my kitchen (6 feet above both routers) i got an EXCELLENT signal from the netgear and a FAIR signal from the Trendnet. both routers are within 2 ft of each other. only paid fifteen after rebate. Maybe there is some tweaking i can do, but i can't believe it was that much worse than Netgear

I set up this router less than 5 minutes, thank's to the installation CD which come with it.The connection to my PS3 even better than my netgear N router. With netgear sometime the connection lost/droped in the middle of the game, but the trendnet(up until now)that never happen. If in any occasion you need the router IP address you can type in 192.168.10.1(default ip address)

4.7 of 5 Good overall performance 8/27/2008
Dennis from Inland Empire, CA
First Wireless N product, was using a Super G Netgear prior. Netgear installation was never as easy as the documentation for the TrendNET thumbs on that, plus the perfomance has not shown drops since installation. The Netgear was faltering constantly during the past 6 months, having to reset on a regular basis. Now I have not upgraded my wireless cards to the draft-N yet, still using the Super G Netgear card and the G cards on my laptops but no performance issues as yet. One thing to note when connecting different manufacturers wireless products together use Windows wireless connection wizard to connect, there are other information fields that do not correspond to each manufacturer.

3.7 of 5 TrendNet Wireless N Router TEW - 632brp 8/13/2008
Mitch9192 from Stillwater, OK
Good router for the money. Setup CD does not work for mac's so you will need to be familiar with setting up a network via the routers homepage (default ip address). Had a little trouble getting the wii to connect, but where there is a will, there is a way.

2.3 of 5 Piece of crap! 8/5/2008

The Trendnet router looks good and is relatively easy to set up out of the box. It worked for one day and then started turning itself off and on intermittently within a range of about 10-45 minutes. Would not recommend this router

4.3 of 5 Works awesome 7/9/2008
Gary DeWildt from Wyoming, Mi.
Instructions are complicated for some people I would think. After the installation problems, including getting brushed off by their help center (never getting it working). I figured out the problem and it has works great! The woman in the help center never called me back, this was really the biggest complaint I have about this product. I would buy it again, but would not let the help center hang up on me and hope they call me back!!!!

4 of 5 Update: Unstable wireless N 4/24/2008
Chris from San Diego, CA
Wanted to update my previous review. This product is great for a wired connection or if you restrict it to 802.11b & 802.11g. But wireless N (802.11n) is very unstable with this model. The wireless connection quite frequently 'freezes'. The computer reports that its still connected, but pages no longer load. I'm also using the Trendnet TEW-624UB USB adapter, so I can unplug that from my computer and let the wired connection kick in and the page loads immediately. At first, I thought it was the USB adapter, but everything works fine if I restrict the router to only use wireless B & G. But of course, that is much slower than N which is why I bought this. I would suggest the TEW-631BRP instead (crazy numbering but its an upgrade from this). Searching online, I guess a lot of other people have the same issue with this product. No response from Trendnet yet.

4.3 of 5 Trendnet Wireless N 3/19/2008
from Winston Salem, NC
This is my first router, and installing it was pretty easy. I did not like it trying to install Network Magic which is 30 day trial. Bypass it, as you don't have to have it.
I semi satisfied with it so far. I think some of my wireless security cams may be knocking out the signal sometimes. Not 100% sure.
Be sure to get latest firmware revision.
Tech support have mostly been helpful when I did have questions.

5 of 5 GREAT DEAL 3/6/2008
Ryan from PA
I bought this when they were offering a Rebate along with it being a great price already! It took me about 5 minutes to hook it up and have everything running.. The included disc, walks you through everything and loads all the needed applications.. Hardest part of the whole thing I feel was opening the box.. Super Easy install and Works Great.. And the Rebate Check has arrived and cashed..

1 of 5 JUNK! JUNK! JUNK! 3/3/2008
from Mcalester, Ok.
Bought this trying to save a few bucks. Waste of my dollars. Tech support after 30 minute wait told me my cable modem was not compatible, so $69 spent to upgrade it. Still would not work. Starts out fine, about 30 minutes then fails to issue IP address. Tech support had no idea either. They offered to replace but I'm not spending another buck on this junk, will just replace with D-Link, I know they are good.

1.3 of 5 Thought I would save some cash..Duh 2/19/2008
from San Francisco
Don't do it.. Device is being RMA'd as we speak. By the time you spend 2-3 hours screwing w/ the firmware upgrade..waitiing on hold for the support person, finding that they can't help either, and determine they will send you a replacement (which BTW they mentioned would require ME to upgrade the firmware again, which caused the fatal problem to start with) and you add in shipping cost back to Trendnet and another ?? days wait..still waiting. Just not worth it..
At this point I'm committed but if you are on the fence, spend 20-30 more..and get something that is known to work out of the box.

5 of 5 Recommended 2/18/2008
Robert from woodstock,ga
Easy installation to ATT DSL. Connected via ethernet to a desktop and wireless connection to a laptop....no problems. Excellent coverage throughout the house.
Like a dummy, I lost the router password. A call to TrendNet to a DOMESTIC technician (California) resolved my problem in less that 10 minutes.

1 of 5 Worst Piece of Garbage Ever 2/14/2008
Anthony from Brooklyn, NY
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, complete garbage, tech support is useless, spend the extra $10 or $20 dollars and get anyhting else but dont waste your time on this. I received one that will not even acquire an IP from the DHCP server and I am a PC technician by trade for 7 years. Upgraded firmware, reset router, USELESS. !!!

4.7 of 5 Very happy 1/1/2008
Chris from San Diego, CA
After looking at several reviews for 802.11n wireless routers, I decided on this TrendNet router. The pricing for this product is far below similar products from other brands. Since this is my first wireless router, I can't say how it compares with others, but I am very pleased with this ones performance. I'm currently using a Netgear adapter on my PC, which seems to work. The initial connection seems to take a little longer than expected (which is only 30-60 seconds). But I believe that is my PC, not the router. Definitely consider TrendNet.
