5 of 5 TrendNet Wireless Network Adapter Tuesday, January 27, 2009
A Customer from NJ
TrendNet Wireless Network Adapter was delivered on time for a price far below BestBuy, CC, Walmart, etc. I copied the drivers to a USB thumb drive. Plugged USB drive into my WYSE V90LE with embedded WinXP. Plugged in the TrendNet Wireless Network Adapter. Adapter was detected by the O/S, I browsed to copy drivers. TrendNet Wireless Network Adapter communicated with my D-LINK wireless router, entered my SSID, WAP passphrase and I was on the internet. Is was that easy!

This device was just what I needed to get a wireless connection on my older desktop. It was this or a more expensive wireless adapter. I chose the right one.

It was easy to install, using Windows XP. The software was not complicated and the operating system installed the driver easily. I merely entered my SSID and WEP code and my connection has been flawless, since.

5 of 5 Works fine Monday, August 18, 2008
A Customer from Philadelphia, PA
We bought this to replace another similar card that we had broken. This works about the same as other more expensive usb ones we have tried and even in some places works better. We haven't had any of the problems that other people have reported, but we usually aren't on the internet for longer than an hour at a time.

1 of 5 Dead in 4 days, TERRIBLE Customer Support Thursday, April 03, 2008
Brian M from Lander, WY
I picked up this unit as a backup for some PCI wireless cards at my job. Had need to use it, but it lasted a whopping 4 days. the unit ran VERY hot, had passable signal reception (not bad, not great), and would have been fine if it kept working. But the worst part was the Customer Service. I emailed, received no reply for a couple days and then called. I was given lots of attitude/grief and then finally told to just return it to where I purchased it. THEY DON'T EVEN WARRANTY THEIR OWN PRODUCT. Not worth the few dollars cost savings to have to deal with that kind of company.

5 of 5 Simple solution Wednesday, November 28, 2007
A Customer from Krugerville, TX
I purchased because I thought my previous USB wireless hub was not working (I had begun to have problems connecting that PC). Installation was simple, the interface is intuitive and the tool to set up the system is one that Microsoft should use instead of their esoteric one. It worked as well as my other hub, but didn't solve my problem which turned out to be the wireless card on my surround sound system. Still I recommend this highly. Great device for the price.

4 of 5 Good product although was hard to get going Tuesday, September 11, 2007
A Customer from Ft.lauderdale, FL
My past experience with the Trendnet wireless products was very good, thier performance never fell short of more expensive products. I also used this model adapter before, it was very easy to set up and get working but looked slightly different - it was oval shaped. This one, although the same model, came in a rectangular shape and gave me some difficulty before I got it working. It didn't seem to find and connect to the available WLANs networks with the same ease as the older version. Could be just a bad piece of hardware, not sure.

5 of 5 TRENDnet TEW-424UB - 54Mbps 802.11g Wireless USB 2 Saturday, August 04, 2007
Martin from St. Louis, MO
Great product for the price. Nothing cheaper for the USB Port when it comes to price. Very reliable and great connection speed. The only negative in my opinion is that you need to know quite a bit about your wireless router settings and technical information in order to get it set up. Set up is a little above the average person's knowledge. But this is probably true with any brand of USB adapter. Their customer service is not good if you need answers in less than 48 hours. If you get stuck on setup, the best thing to do is call a friend that does this for a living or the smart person who set up your wireless router in the first place!

2 of 5 Be Cautious Saturday, June 23, 2007
A Customer from New Freedom, PA
Worked out just fine with strong signal. However, after about one hour of using, it became very hot with a burning smell. The signal intensity also dropped from 90 plus to 50. I pulled it out and will try again to see if I should return it or not.

5 of 5 Easy to install Thursday, March 22, 2007
K Duey from Oregon
I got this USB adapter when the PCMCIA slot on my laptop died. The card would be my preferred method, particularly as I have the slower USB 1.0 (not 2.0). This adapter, however, installed easily, and performs very well considering the USB speed. I do not have much range, but don't know if that is due to the adapter or the new wireless router I have from Verizon FIOS. I am still investigating this. I panicked a bit when I first saw the adapter. It is rather wide and my USB slots are right next to my power adapter connection. It wasn't going to fit. But included with the adapter is a short extenstion cable, probably for just this situation. All in all, I am very happy with its performance. I was a bit wary for the price was so low. I didn't want to get into a you-get-what-you-pay-for situation. So far, it has been very good.

4 of 5 Excellent USB Wireless Adapter Tuesday, October 03, 2006
A Customer from Irvine, CA
This USB Wireless Adapter is very easy to install. The problem coming from connecting to existing access points. I need to rescan the access points when the connection is down. Sometimes I need to shutdown my computer and restart the computer to get proper connection. The monitor and connection software is not sophisticated like D-Link or NetGear.

4 of 5 Works with Win98 on an older notebook Tuesday, September 19, 2006
A Customer from Beaverton, OR
I bought this adapter because it's relatively cheap and works on my 7 year old notebook computer running Windows 98. I am not sure if all USB adapters will work with an old slow computer and OS, but this one works great for me. It took about 10 to 15 minutes to set up using the installation CD and to make the connection to my wireless DSL router. I am very satisfied with it.

5 of 5 Excellent USB Ethernet Adapter Tuesday, September 12, 2006

It is very easy to install. It worked very well with my old USB. It could detect a wireless router in a clutter environment. The flexible USB extension allowed this device to connect to USB port with other device much easier.

5 of 5 Wireless USB is a great option! Tuesday, May 23, 2006
A Customer from Wendell, NC
This is a great/inexpensive option for wireless. Was surprised it works so well considering how inexpensive it was. This beats running the 25+ ft of CAT5 cable I would've needed otherwise.

5 of 5 Great Monday, April 17, 2006
baldycraig from Freeport, IL
Got better reception with this than a D-link card in my laptop. I didn't use the included cd at all. Windows has everything built in that it needs. No need to add extra bloat-ware. Feels somewhat cheap, but seems sturdy enough. The 2 inch included extension is perfect. I can't plug mine straight into my laptop without the extension because it goes over the power connector. It's great that they include it.

5 of 5 Great USB wireless adapter Saturday, February 25, 2006
John from Newbury Park, CA
You can't beat the price on this TRENDnet TEW-424UB - 54Mbps 802.11g Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter. It's also very functional. Literally took less than 2 minutes to set up on my notebook computer. I run XP Professional and had no issues. In the past I tried to set up my notebook with a wireless pc card adapter and it ended up messing up my network configuration. Not so with this adapter. If you're not running with the latest technology, don't worry - it is backwards compatable. I have USB 1.1 on my laptop and my wireless router is a 802.11b and I get 11Mbps without any issues. It's not as fast as what I potentially could run but I'm not yet ready to buy a new wireless router. The utility picks up the wireless networks in the area and allows you to choose which one to use. Nice option if you are going to travel. Also, shows the signal strength. Comes with a 5 inch USB extension cable which is useful when the USB on the notebook computer is located in an awkward place. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone. I bought it for the price but I can't imagine any other wireless USB adapter that could match up at any price.

5 of 5 Works great with Westell modem Monday, February 13, 2006
A Customer from Bethesda, MD
If you've tried everything and cannot get an IP address, check your WEP key on your modem. With the right key, it works great! I was initially concerned about range since it does not have a long cord for placement flexibility, but it reaches from the second floor to the basement with good signal strength. Also comes with a 3" USB extension cable so it will fit into a tight spot next to other cables...a nice feature.

Robert Hughes from Bakersfield CA
We tested 5 wireless adapters with the Sonicwall TZ170W using windows XP. Netgear PCMCIA, Linksys USB, Trendnet USB, D-Link PCMCIA and Intel Centrino. Only the Centrino and Trendnet works! For the Trendnet use the Trendnet software not the XP wireless config.

5 of 5 Fantastic Bargain! Tuesday, February 15, 2005
johnovanni from Minneapolis, MN
I just bought two of these to go with a brand new Belkin 802.11g router. Performs great for me, although the signal only has to go about 40 feet through two inner walls. Now a couple words of warning: If you are using XP SP2, install Trendnet's software, then use XP's Wireless Networking wizard and a flash drive to configure it, not Trendnet's software. I couldn't switch between ethernet at work and wireless at home while using only Trendnet's software. The combination of Trendnet's software and XP's wireless networking work great together, and networking is a snap!

This TRENDNET USB 2.0 wireless FLASH DRIVE is amazing. Well it was piece of cake for me to install this drive. It connected to my network like a thunderstrom hitting the ground and in my case it is my computer. Instead of going for a PCI based wirelss card i highly recommend this product to everyone who wants to have a speedy wireless internet connection. BUY.COM SHIPPED THIS PRODUCT SOON AND I LOVE TO BUY FROM THEM AS THEY ARE CUSTOMER FRIENDLY AND BEAT ALL MOST ALL INCLUDING AMAZON,NEWEGG AND ZIPZOOM IN PRICE.

5 of 5 Great Wednesday, January 12, 2005
A Customer from NJ
I have the 229UB and I bought this one also for my other desktop to go wireless. Works as desribed and would recommend both of them. My router is close by so no interference or loss of signal so I can't judge the range. This unit when loaded onto the computer kicked off my built in SMC card which was going bad and overwrote or deleted the cards software. Don't know why but it did.

3 of 5 simple, quick USB network adapter Monday, December 13, 2004
stephen from castro valley, ca
I bought this for an older Mac that can't do 'g' wireless internally. It works on the Mac, but doesn't support all the nice features of the Apple Airport card (no signal level or other diagnostics). I haven't figured out how to turn on WEP, since the driver being used must be generic and built into the system. Stil, this is a cute little piece of electronics. Haven't tested it with the PC yet, and the included software, but that will be coming.
