3 of 5 Works but I expected better. Tuesday, February 19, 2008 John from Boca Raton, FL
Arrived VERY quickly (less than 48 hrs with standard shipping!) and well packaged. Easy to setup and detected wireless router ok. HOWEVER I did not realize 2 VERY IMPORTANT things: (1) my Netopia Cayman router isn't 802.11g (or .11n) capable, so this card didn't improve my speed at all. Also: (2) save your $$$ and upgrade to 802.11n as it's apparently MUCH FASTER. Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 Won't connect without reboot Sunday, February 03, 2008 Bob from Pennsylvania
I purchased this product to connect to a TRENDnet router (TEW-432BRP). It won't connect without rebooting the router each time I want to connect. I downloaded and installed the most recent software for the wireless card. I updated the firmware for the router. I reviewed the support information available from TRENDNet. I attempted to get individual help from TrendNet via email--no response. I confirmed that the problem was with the wireless card by trying another wireless card that connects flawlessly every time. There is a reason that it cost $20. It is because it doesn't work. Ran the installation, connected to my Linksys Access Point. The connection stayed up for about 1 minute and then went down. It continued to bounce up and down without staying connected. I tried every conceivable security setting -- including no security setting. I deinstalled and reinstalled the driver. I used to work in the WiFi industry and have a level of expertise with WiFi. This is a bad product. Suck it up and go spend $40. I replaced this with a $40 D-Link product -- works like a champ. 5 of 5 WiFi made affordable! Thursday, June 07, 2007 Stuart Hill from Deming, NM
This card is easy to install, picks up the wireless base quickly, and performs well. I had NO problems using it with Windows Vista or XP and it doesn't protrude quite as much as some others. A great buy! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works great Tuesday, February 06, 2007 A Customer from Johnson City TN
I have used this card in my laptop while traveling and on my network at home. The only problem I ever had with it was due to a conflict with having Zonealarm on at startup on a Windows 2000 setup. I boot the computer and make the connection and then turn on Zonealarm and it comes on strong! Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Easy to Use Wednesday, May 10, 2006 Rob from Frederick, MD
For the price I thought I was going to have to fiddle with it during installation to get it to work. However, to my suprise, it worked great on the first install. As recommended by other reviews, I downloaded the current drivers and installed them and I was ready to go. What a great deal! Thanks Buy.com. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Very good value for price & performance Sunday, April 23, 2006 D. Sanghavi from Streetsboro OHIO
Installation was a breeze. After reading all these posts, I just downloaded the latest drivers and that's it. I would certainly recommend this product. Just one point to note. My old USB adapter (802.11b) showed excellent/very Good reception for my 802.11b router. But this one shows 'Low' reception most times even when sitting not-too-far from the router. I am guessing that it is because the router is 802.11b and this card is 802.11g (I maybe wrong here). Was this review helpful?

Installation was a breeze for my Fujitsu laptop, which was purchase three years ago. I really don't know what the others talked about. Just download the utility and drivers from their website to avoid any outdated version. Install the drivers first before inserting the adaptor. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Good product...easy install Thursday, July 14, 2005 A Customer from Alabama
Product arrived and was a snap to install. Not quite plug and play but after my laptop found the driver it connected right away. Reception is either a little weak or my 80 year old walls in the house are extremely thick, but works in most rooms. The value was exceptional and I would even recommend this product to a friend. 5 of 5 Works great with Windows XP SP2 Tuesday, March 22, 2005 A Customer from Maine
If you use the card with its supplied Wireless Configuration Utility and disable Windows XP's Wireless Zero Configuration service you shouldn't have any difficulty using it under SP2. Avoid the AboCom driver that Windows Update wants you to use, though - stick with the official driver. Was this review helpful?

My laptop only came with built-in 802.11b, which was fine until I installed a 802.11g network. This card is a total steal for the price, with or without the rebate (the rebate is like an added bonus). Highly recommended. Was this review helpful?

I bought the card because it was cheap and faster than my existing 802.1b card. I have two laptops and the card did not initially work with either using the driver supplied on the CD-Rom. Both laptops got the ‘blue-screen of death’ when I installed the driver from the CD-Rom. One is a HP with Windows 2000 and the other is a DELL with Windows XP.
I was forced to download the most current driver from the manufacturer’s website and work some ‘magic’ un-installing the old driver before the new one would work.
Now that the card is installed and setup it works great. Range is good and the speed seems okay. Tough to beat the price after rebate…
I will mention that with my D-Link 802.11b router the card runs at 22MBs, not 11Mbs like the old Netgear… This was a nice surprise.

The driver and utility of thiss card doe work with WinXP SP2, neither will it work with WinXP included driver and utility.
On top of that, the company doesn't have a plan to update the driver and utility.

Card is a complete ripoff. The box and Buy.com state WPA is supported. I have worked with 1/2 dozen other cards and this one clearly does not support WPA. I wrote to tech support and 24 hours later I have not gotten a response. Drivers on website are dated Aug 2004 in one place, but when you download them, they are from March 2004. I have 14 computers at home, several connected via 802.11g/WPA-TKIP and the rest on gigabit copper and I have never had as many problems as this card has presented. Spend $5 more and get a card that works. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Don't install XP SP 2 with this card Wednesday, September 29, 2004 hojingah from union city, ca
This card works great. Excellent reception, compared to my gigafast usb adapter. This card gives my laptop the speed it needs to browse the internet. However, all these good things stop as soon as I install the XP SP 2. What a mistake. Couldn't resolve with the customer reps, which by the way an excellent customer service I've received for a long time. Shipped it back to manu. Still waiting for replacement to come. I bought this card for my sony vaio FRV37 (WHICH DOS NOT COME WITH WIRELESS)as it was a cheap deal i could get for g. the shipping was delayed by @ 2 days even thought the tracking informatin said it was out for edlivery. furthermor after getting it, and trying to install according to the manufacturer's instruction caused a lot of problems. My computer crashed every time it rebooted, i.e. the cycle continued endlessely without stopping. Finally i uninstalled the software and used windows default wireless networking wizard (new in SP2) and it worked like charm. the card as such is good and have a pretty good coverage without any dropped connections. I have been using this card for almost a week and have not encountered any problems in reception. If u want to buy this card, throw away the cd that comes with it and use windows to configure the card....... Was this review helpful?

I purchased two of these about three months ago and found that they work pretty well. Price was the determining factor. The downside of this card is that it eats up battery life. I also purchased a TEW-229UB which is 802.11b and find that I like it much better. The TEW-229UB has a much better range and uses far less battery, even though it is only 1/5th the speed. I prefer the TEW-229UB.
I would spend a few more dollars and get a better card if I were doing it over again. Was this review helpful?

This card works great. It is XP that has issues! I was having trouble staying connected and a Trendnet person emailed me with easy to understand directions. Then I upgraded to Service Pack 2 for my XP. MISTAKE! The Trendnet people tried to help me again, but I just uninstalled SP2 and all is back to normal.
Great service and great product Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 Claims of WPA support are false... Monday, August 23, 2004 A Customer from Central, WI
... and TrendNET is hiding it from those that already shelled out their cash for this falsely advertised product.
In fact, they changed their page; on 2004-06-11, http://www.trendware.com/products/TEW-421PC.htm stated:
“Advanced Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) and up to 128-bit WEP encryption are supported to provide secure access for your data”
They mentioned WPA in the same sentence as WEP; it supports WEP, but not WPA.
Today (2004-08-23) the same page states:
"Up to 128-bit WEP encryption are supported to provide secure access for your data"
The bad English ("are supported" when talking only about WEP) indicates a quick hack to hide the fact that TrendNET knows that WPA support is a sore spot.

I own this card, purchased from a local store
I should have checked this site first
buy.com has a rebate upon the lowest price for class g card, that makes a big steal
for xp users, however, recommend to replace the driver, the driver is installed automatically, but the one is wrong, and the card don't work properly, but after replaced the driver from the CD, all is good
the reception is the best among the cards I own, the spec from the manufacturer is true
if you have a laptop, get one here (buy.com), it don't hurt to pay 30 bucks to give a try Was this review helpful?
