This is my second Transcend StoreJet Hard Drive. I took the first drive on a 5 month trip through South America. It handled beautifully. On a trip where things often failed (debit cards, computers, electronics, and pickup lines) it was refreshing to be able to depend on the one thing that mattered most; my stored data. It's small and very portable, and it puts up with all the bump you can throw at it. I hopped from bus to bus and hotel to hotel and it worked like a charm. Very reliable, and it's drop test rating really does earn its stripes. Buy this drive if you're gonna travel; buy this drive if functionality is more important than faddish looks. It won't let you down.

I have been using this for a few weeks now. It . I like that it doesn't need external power and is nice and compact (50% larger than an iPod Classic). Just toss in your bag and go. You can do that since it's shock proof (to a certain degree). I picked it up for $70, well worth it even at the current advertised price.

I've been using these for about 2 weeks now for carry out backups for our current data base of nearly 40 gigs. Have not entirely timed the backup but it will take several hours across the network. The drive(s) are shared and changed out Monday through Friday. On the 1 gig network the utilization during backup will average 5 to 6%. Have not subjected the drive to any "military testing" but carry then in my shirt pocket.
