A gripping tale of bacterial poisoning, product tampering, and corporate malevolence by the dean of medical thrillers. After his son dies from poisoning caused by "E. coli" bacteria, surgeon Kim Regis investigates and comes up against a code of silence more impenetrable that anything he has ever encountered in the medical world.
From the Publisher:
When a doctor's daughter becomes infected with E. coli, the widespread dangers of bacterial contamination are no longer a subject for debate, but a grim reality. In desperation, he is forced to follow a trail of ignorance and corruption from the tangled red-tape of the medical community to the highest levels of the powerful meat industry. When his daughter, Becky, becomes ill from bacterial poisoning, the deadly E. coli bacteria, cardiac surgeon Kim Reggis is determined to track down the cause, no matter what the cost, and follows a deadly trail of corruption, ignorance, and red tape to the highest levels of the meat industry. Reprint.
Annotation:
When Dr. Kim Regis takes his young son out for a burger at the local fast-food joint, he has no idea what's in store. He's shocked and devastated when his son dies hours later as a result of E. coli poisoning. Is Kim's son simply the victim of a chance outbreak? Kim doesn't think so. With the help of his ex-wife, Kim follows the trail of deceit and corruption to stop the poisonings before more innocent people die.
