3 of 5 It's not that Too Human is Bad... Tuesday, November 18, 2008
    Dean Bushik from Anaheim, CA

It's just that it isn't especially good. The camera is clunky and the melee control by the right stick takes some getting used to. I like the idea (similar to the way EA's NHL series has gone to analog stick controls), but would like to see it done better. You just point and he slashes, there could be a little more depth there. There are plenty of items to collect to upgrade your character, which has RPG appeal...but then all the enemies just scale to however powerful you are so it's a bit pointless. I really wanted to like this game more and had higher hopes. Unfortunately it's rather mediocre.

    4 of 5 Fun, don't listen to the anti-hype Tuesday, September 09, 2008
    Alan Lanoie from Bardstown, KY
Too Human is fun, and is pretty much the only game of its type on the consoles. Don't come into this game for the snoozer of a story or the just-OK graphics. Come into it because it's really fun to bounce from enemy to enemy, alternating from sword to guns to grenades. The enemies all seem the same, and the environment design is horrid. Why can't I jump over this, or walk that way? Why is there basically no destructable environmental objects at all? Ah well, it doesn't really matter. A lot of people are down on this game, and there are a lot of things to complain about. But as far as the basic actual gameplay goes, this game is really fun. The loot has been a bit over hyped, but some of the guns are really cool to use. The problem with some of the loot is it becomes useless quickly. Would have been nice to be able to upgrade a certain item, instead of having to trash it. I did like this game very much, and I hope the sequels, if they really do come out, are vastly improved. Maybe a rental, but I tried the demo and was hooked; try it for yourself.

    2 of 5 Very Disapointed Tuesday, September 09, 2008
Nathan Nitzel from Las Vegas, NV
I was really looking forward to this game and had played the demo and fell in love. Unfortunately what you play in the demo is exactly what you get and nothing more. First off you will be fighting one of about 5 different monsters the entire game. Most of these 5 different monsters will even look nearly identical except for shape and size. This is not an exaggeration. 85% of the gameplay consists of killing hordes and hordes of these identical monsters. To give you an idea how how many you will be killing with the exact same moves, over and over and over, my end killing figure was some where around 15,000 monsters. Seriously. The entire game has 4 levels. 4 painfully long and tedious levels that are only there to someone change the tedium of killing those 15k monsters. Rarely do you see anything cool after the first 10 minutes into a level and you will be there for about 2 hours. As for the story you really dont have any clue whats going on. You try to piece it together but they literally give you scraps of story just to loosely make what your doing make sense, all up until the end of the game (like the last boss battle "end of the game) to fill in a few of the larger blanks but there is still so much missing its frustrating. As a side note the in game cinematics where just done terribly. I have no idea who tested this game for quality before shipping out but they failed at their job or no one listened to them. There was no power in the cinematics. You could tell they were going for a powerful godlike feel to Baldur but the slow down techniques and other tools to create that feel were used in such a poor way that it just ends up looking completely stupid. The good of this game was that if your a loot whore you will love this game and also the fighting can be fun if your willing to play with the monsters a bit but even that will get old. The background and the world they have this game set in has the potential to be a crazy in depth and interesting place if they would just explain a bit more. This is suppose to be a trilogy so I can only hope that they learn from the mistakes of this one and make better sequels because there is really a ton of potential, but none of which is realized in this first game. Do not buy this, but instead rent it.

4 of 5 Could have been a GREAT game... Tuesday, September 09, 2008
A Gamer from Oklahoma City, OK
A long time ago, in a world not so far away... I really, really wanted to love this game. It's beautiful, runs flawlessly, and has my favorite type of gameplay: hack 'n slash. But, what it isn't, is fun. I have been looking forward to this game for at least a year. I love the developer, Silicon Knights. I have played and finished virtually every game they have published. They are the only company that I feel competes with Bioware in the story department. The story is epic, the voice acting is great, the graphics are phenomenal. Streaming the game off the disc gives you no load times and allowed them to create environments so huge that nothing else on a console can match. Looting in the game is pretty sweet, especially past level 30. But, I think the biggest problem is the control scheme. It's innovative and cool. But it doesn't quite work. And that makes the game incredibly frustrating. When you are being swarmed by 20 or so enemies, and you can't quite pull off the attack you need you die. And you die, and you die, and you die. It gets painful trying to get through one little area and you've spent a half hour killing 5 enemies. It's not that your character can't wipe the floor with them, but you can't get your attacks and skills to fire off correctly. Another issue I have is the scaling enemies. The problem is that you need to have certain meters filled to a certain extent, but they take pretty much the same amount of time to fill, regardless of your level (and when you die, you start at zero). Because the enemies always scale to your level, you can't combo/kill them any faster. So either a) the enemies shouldn't be able to keep up with you, or b) your own abilities should work quicker as you gain levels. I'm halfway through my second time. But I'm having to work to do it. And therein lies the rub...

4 of 5 Finally some inovation... Monday, September 08, 2008
    A Gamer from Marengo, Oh.
Solid game with few minor drawbacks. The controls get some getting used to however only takes half hour or so. Camera can get a little annoying especially since you almost no control, the only thing you can do during combat is to center behind you. Would recommend this game to non-japanese rpg fans, god of war and devil may cry gammers.
