I wanted to comment on the easyport mount of the Tom Tom. I own a similar model (140S 3 1/2" screen). I wanted a GPS I could use in a rental car when I travel and would not take up space in my luggage. The TomTom fit the bill perfectly. My Garmin mount is bulky and I'd hesitate to move it from car to car. Easyport mount folds up neatly against the unit and mounts securely. It's a little stiff at first and I was afraid the plastic would crack. But, no worries, it loosens up after a few uses and the plastic is stronger than you think. Once mounted, you can also twist it to almost any angle so it's very easy to view and you can often avoid glare if you're a convertible guy like me who likes to drive with the top down. It has flawlessly taken me to some pretty out of the way places in several parts of the country. And I am always amazed by what's in the database and how easy it is to use. Over and over again, I'm about to input the address of a little hole in the wall restaurant (for example) and just for fun touch hotels, restaurants icon to see if it will save me the trouble of typing in the address. Sure enough, every time it's there (even with the phone #). I tap it and away I go. I also have a Garmin that cost 3x the TomTom
but for ease of use I prefer the TomTom. The only thing my Tom Tom model lacks is Bluetooth which is useful for hands free cell phone use. Was this review helpful?

to the people that had trouble updating maps, the one you're using is for a different model, for some reason it autopopulates when you log into tomtom's site, but it's for a different model unit. To get the free latest maps you go to one of the menus at the top and select it from there, I think it was under tools but I'm not sure, if you search their help it says where to find it. Then it works great, updates no problem. This units only short fall I can find is that they do burry the free map update service and it does pull up a map that won't fit automatically, it's some kind of urgent map update or something for a different model. Read the details, it lists the models it's for and this isn't one of them.

Tomtom is refusing map updates. The reason they gave was that my unit was a refurb. I am reading from page 6 in the instructions that came with the unit. It says latest map update is guaranteed. Within 30 days of purchase if your map is outdated they will do a free map update. Well they lied. I tried to do the updates right away, I got a message that the time for updates had expired. I called Tomtom the same day I got the unit & they refused to do map updates. I think this is a very bad way to do business. I am going to return the unit. But I will give them another chance to correct this before I return the unit. Was this review helpful?
