TomTom ONE XL - 4.3" GPS w/ Preloaded Maps of US and Canada

I bought the TOMTOM ONE XL as a christmas gift for my wife. She loves it. It comes preloaded with detailed maps and can easily be updated by connecting to a computer with the included cable. It has fast-food, motel, restaurant, and points of interests. I would definitely recommend this unit. Service and shipping was excellent.

I bought this when it was on sale for $99.99. I wasn't expecting all the bells & whistles, but was plesantly surprised. This thing can do so much I haven't even discovered all the options yet. I am very happy with my purchase. I highly recommend this to everyone!!

This Tom Tom XL is reasonably easy to use -- but it picks lousy routes, oftentimes, and has my home address off about 100 yards -- for that matter, several destinations have been about a 100 yards off when I get there, also. Some built-in locations aren't correct either. I tried updating the map, but it did not correct the problem. One example of bad routing -- to go significantly south from my home in southwest Louisville, KY I usually take the freeway -- the Tom Tom routes me along surface streets. The distance is about the same. When I turn toward the freeway, it "gets excited" and repeatedly tells me to turn around. Coming home, it plans the same surface road route, but when I turn into the freeway, it accepts it without any "turn around" messages. As another example, getting off the expressway in New Albany, IN, it routed me in a multi-block loop back to the same surface street I entered on. Wasn't exactly wrong -- just dumb. I suppose that if I go to a strange city I can count on getting to my destination, but I can't trust it to take me the best way.

I paid $130 for this item and it has jumped in price so I got a GREAT Deal. The only downside is the time calculation is way off for trips. It calculates the trip at an average of 40mph so you need to adjust your time. The company says there is no way to set the MPH in the system.

I bought the TOMTOM ONE XL as a gift for my girlfriend a couple of weeks ago. She absolutely loves it. We tested her brother's Garmin of similar price. Hands down, it blows the Garmin away. It loads about twice as fast, and has many more customizing options. We were even able to upload a picture of her car to use as the car icon, as well as download over 50 different voices to use. It comes preloaded with up-to-date, super detailed maps with every fast-food, hotel, restuarant, and millions of other points of interests. When I decide to get one I will definitely come back here to buy my TOMTOM ONE XL. The service and shipping was excellent.

This GPS finds the satellite within half a minute in my area, and the big screen is really fantastic as it is easy to look at and easy to navigate around the menu compared to the smaller TomTom GPS. I don't really use the live traffic feature as it doesn't connect with my iPhone (it is my iPhone's problem, though), but I saw my friend's TomTom works flawlessly with his so it should work on mine, too.

I haven't had much opportunity to use just yet, except on two simple shorter trips. The softward had a difficult time making a direct route to the location I plugged in before hand. Each time I selected "find alternative route" the TomTom kept coming up with a route even longer than before. Until I went through a couple of smaller communities did the data finally appear on the route I intended to take in the first place. Kind of frustrating that the software is more 'dumb' than I thought. I'd hate to think this thing will steer a person wrong getting through a metropolitan area. It is relatively simple to use and the menu options are self explanatory. I really like it, other than the 2hr battery; they could've done better on that one!

The Tomtom is easy to use and relatively small for a bigger-screen unit. It's easy to get on and off the windshield and is easy to program. I am happy with it and would buy another Tomtom.

The unit was refurbed but looked like new and worked great. Easy to use. I have had tomtom on a mobile phone for awhile and choose this unit for a gift. Like all GPS I have used they do have some flaws but in general work better than printed maps. The screen is nice and large and if you can get a good deal on it, I feel worth the extra money over the 3.5" screen.

I took advantage of a Buy.com sale price of $139 for this Tom Tom and can say it was a total deal! In comparison to onboard GPS devices, the street perspective (default perspective) of the TOM TOM is much better to realize where you are and where you need to go (you can change this to 2 other view modes as well). The bright clolors and clear visual and audio directions make this a very good GPS. The screen in a nice size too for thoe who may be concerned about it being too small in comparison with onboard GPS. Good buy with plenty of additional features to boot!

Ive only had this GPS for about 2 weeks and I've got to say so far, so good. I've used it to find a couple of spots I already knew by heart and it took me straight there. Recently I used it to find a new place for me and again it did fine. Even though I passed by the place it re-directed me right back to my destination. I love the different day and night settings. The only down side is this unit dosen't contain my address since it's a fairly new residence.

This Tom Tom was a great find , the price was fantastic..I went looking after I ordered it, this price was not anywhere near the places I searched...My hubby loved it..and so do I since I do not have to recite directions from a print out now..yippeee!!

Works straight out of the box, Can be a bit slow to react when you get to driving around the city. All directions are given in clear terms along with countdown in yards to the next turning. Connecting to a bluetooth enabled phone is a bit of a minefield as the tomtom is only suitable for about 2 types of phone.Overall an excellent product.ps You may as well throw out the old fashioned maps.

After having the NovTour GPS for half a year and only troubles (was self re-setting, map updates were not supported for the last two years) I decided to buy TomTom GPS and it’s a great product. I can get updates through the Internet; unit is very reliable and finds the satellite very fast in comparison to my previous unit. The display is very crisp with big font allowing easily read while driving. I’m very satisfied buyer

This item is VERY easy to use and I would reccomend this to anyone. My only gripe is that for the bluetooth and traffic functionality - it can not use either of the 3 types of phones we have in the house. Not one. It has a lot of options which were nice and had no problems with the software on the pc

Good product, perfect price, brand new. The only problem was to figure out how to get rid of the map of Mexico loaded by default (the solution is wait 5 minutes, it is done automatically).

After ordering one of these for me I decided to get my wife one. I knew she would want a new one and not a refurbished one like I got. I found this one "new" for only a few dollars more than I paid for my refurbished one. I am sure she will love it.

I purchased this unit for my wife's car. I already have a Garmin 350 and paid twice as much for it as the new TOM TOM. Shipping was fast and unit arrived without problems. After reading the instructions, I was able to program my home address into it and found it on the TOM TOM. After that it continued to show me in Guam instead of the Midwest. One call to TOM TOM suppport and 45 minutes with them and another 45 minutes downloading new maps the unit was finally up and running. I have been using it for about 3 weeks and no new issues with the unit. Tech Support was reaaly good and did give me another map update without charging me. So Far so good.

Mine had an entire vertical line of "conspicuously purple" pixels right down the center of the display from right out of the box. However, it is hard to see, and I don't really even notice it. The interface is great, and I am overall very excited about this product. It's a good deal, too.

Great user interface and quick GPS lock. VERY POOR ADDRESS LOCATIONS. Every address inputted was off buy between 100 yards and 1/4 mile. It at one point had me turing in the wrong direction. And yes the addresses were imputted correctly. They didn't even have my street completed even though it has been here for 3 years. My son has a 2yr old Magellan that has my house in the right location and the street correctly positioned as does my works 1yr old Garmin Nuvi. They advertise up to date maps which is false. There is map share but even that still does not fix postioning addresses incorrectly. Why should I have to rely on customers to correct mapping. It pays to pay $20 more for a Garmin or Magellan.

Okay, kids this is my second TomTom one XL! The first I purchased two years ago when they first came out. I had a friend who recommended it, so I got on board. Well, I have had friends and family borrow my unit so much, and than go buy the same thing! This speaks volumes for this little device. We've decided to give one to the father-in-law for Christmas!! I am telling you that if you were even considering getting another unit for equal or close to price. Forget the rest TomTom is the best! Great out of the box instructions. Also some excellent downloadable free stuff too! You like drinking Dunkin Donut Coffee, this thing will show you where they're! Even talks like Darth Vader if you want it. Please don't settle for the cheaper version off brand models. TomTom is huge in Europe and is taking to the U.S. rather quick!

Love it - Love it! Not sure why I've been printing directions on paper so long. Outside the battery draining quickly - Love it and easy to use! Recommend purchase hands down.

This is a fantastic product. It is so easy to use - even for techno-challenged folks like myself. It is easy to program in a destination and alter the route as you go. The large 4.3" screen is fantastic. I plan on using it whenever I go out of my local area and since it is so light and portable, I'll bring it with me if I travel with someone else.

Lots of positives with this unit. It's very light at 7oz and the 4.3" screen makes inputting data much easier then with smaller screens. There is an abundance of POI's, great for finding your favorite motel or restaurant while traveling. Setting up a travel route is relatively easy but other functions may require use of the manual (included on a CD). Fast pick up of satellites and rerouting when the user diverts from the planned route. Biggest negative - doesn't always pick the best or fastest route regardless of the setting in preferences. Nevertheless it will always get you to your destination.

I love this GPS! It gets me where I need to be, tells me how long it will take to get there and it is portable! I bring it with me in other people's cars- It is such a big help. The maps are very accurate and quite amazing really! If I miss a turn, the TomTom ONE XL guides me back to the right route. Everyone should get this GPS!

I've been using the ONE XL for a few month now and it has never let me down. I've used it on a few long road trips and it has worked great, but it comes in handy most around the city when looking for specific restaurants or golf courses, etc. It's so easy to input the destination and have the XL take you there. Navigating with this device is so easy I don't know how I use to drive without it. I highly recommend it to others out there looking for a accurate device that is a blast to use.

I've now had the ONE XL for about a month and I've been extremely pleased with its performance. It is very accurate and like some other TomTom's I've used it is very easy to operate. I love the wide screen which makes reading the maps much easer. Instructions are clear and precise. It is very small which makes taking it in and out of my car a breeze. I would highly suggest the ONE XL to others. It's a great purchase!

If you're looking for a new GPS device that is very clear and easy to use I highly recommend the TomTom ONE XL. I had used a few GPS devices before and the TomTom ONE is definitely one of the most user friendly and I was able to use it right out of the box without needing the instructions and I think even if its the first GPS device you get you can still do the same. The wide screen is really cool - the viewing area is really expanded and its still just as thin as the original TomTom ONE.

I love my Tom Tom XL because of the following: 1. Shows me the shortest route 2. Shows me a walking route 3. Zooms in on street level 4. Give me weather using my Palm Treo 650 via Bluetooth 5. No more headaches of printing extensive map routes 6. I can carry in my purse. 7. Tons of compliments from cabbies. The only bad part is that there is no pouch and there is no weight bag like the Where2Go Garmin. However I almost crashed my Avis and Hertz rental with their GPS system. It was totally distracting and never gave you a MAP route and give you an alternatives to your routes.
