4 of 5 Small Issues Friday, May 16, 2008
A Customer from Los Angeles, Ca

I bought one of these for my dad and after using it for a few days I decided I wanted one for myself and bought a refurbished one from this site. The satellite acquisition time is taking substantially longer on this refurbished model, and I'm having trouble with POIs on the map (the changes I make aren't always saved). I'm going to try and download updates and see if the issues resolve otherwise I'm calling customer service.

5 of 5 Great for the price Thursday, May 15, 2008
A Customer from columbus, oh
Pro - Great for the price; Easy to use; it is very handy to take anywhere; find most locations correctly. Con - Sometime the residential address number marked wrong on the map; When taking it on a trip, it is slow to relocate your current position when you first turn it on.

4 of 5 Good entry level GPS, but directions are not alway Wednesday, May 14, 2008
Isaac from Lakewood, NJ
Great price on this easy to use device & it gets you to where you need to go. Reception has been very good as well. However, the directions do not seem to be the best route to go & the voice prompt is sometimes delayed in giving instructions (i.e. it tells you in 200 yards to turn when you're 50 yards away). But again, great value, easy to use & gets you where you need to go (albeit via a longer route). P.S. Buy.com shipping was very fast!

5 of 5 Great product, Great price Wednesday, May 14, 2008
tatlockrm@yahoo.com from Greenwood, IN
I was a bit skeptical at this price about just how good this GPS would be. I have had it for about a month now and it has performed very well and is very easy to use. Since it was refurbished it did not have the latest maps. However, it was very easy to get it updated from TomTom customer service. Their PC interface to the unit is easy to use and allows some nice extras like changing the voice that it uses to speak the directions. The only issue I have noticed is that it sometimes doesn't get you exactly to your destination even though it shows you are there. I have always been within a few hundred feet of the address but not always spot on. Other than that, it seems to be a great product and I would recommend it.

5 of 5 If life were only this easy.. Tuesday, May 13, 2008
NS - SCJJ from Boston MA
Have been loving my TomTom since I bought it. I had to run some quick updates to get it working correctly, but once that was done it stared right up out of the box and was giving me turn by turn directions to any location I picked. I test drove it for about a week with routes I normally take and it was right on the money each time. This past weekend I tried it on new routes that I hadnt taken before, and it got me where I need to go, rerouted me as I changed my route to avoid traffic and construction around the Boston area. Its quick and efficient for what I needed it for. Im very satisfied with this unit and recommend it for the casual user that needs a GPS for out of the way places from time to time. Someone whos on the road a lot may find this one lacking in certain areas for their needs, but out of the box this thing gets the job done.

5 of 5 A "Best Buy" in GPS Monday, May 12, 2008
A Customer from Apex, NC
Purchased refurbished unit for my wife for mother's day. This is her first GPS but she was able to work it after a few mintues of play. As accurate as the more expensive units but without the extra cost or (con) upgrade features such as text to speech.

5 of 5 Awsome Awsome!!!! Monday, May 12, 2008
A Customer from Durham NC
I found this unit through BradsDeals.com and couldn't pass it up and Im glad I didn't. As soon as I took it out of the box it aquired a Satellite signal in seconds and looks brand new. Looks great, Sound is awsome, lighting is great, Directions are spot on, and TomTom Home is a breeze to use. I would highly recommend this product and I am thinking of buying another one for my wife. One of the reviews I read said the refurbished units didn't have the free updates, well I dont know why they didn't get it because I did for 12 months. Just dont pay extra money for next day delivery through Buy.com because they take their sweet time and you definitly wont get it on time. Just do the free delivery.

5 of 5 Great Little GPS Monday, May 12, 2008
Doug from Lewistown, PA
Great Price and easy to use. Unlike the individual above, TomTom DID provide me with the latest maps even though it was a refurb. It is a one time update and they will not bend on the policy. I recieved map v7.10 on my unit but they upgraded me to v7.15. Map v7.20 as just released this week and should be available to anyone who purchases. I'd recommend this to anyone.

5 of 5 Incredible Value Thursday, May 08, 2008
A Customer from Fishers, Indiana
The TomTom was incredible easy to set up and use. All of the menu items are very intuitive and simple to figure out. The routing works well, but doesn't always pick the route that I would have. However, it will alway get you to your destination. I have used it in several cities that I am not familiar with, and it has worked great. For a simple "no-frills" GPS, there is not a better value available.

5 of 5 97% Awesome Wednesday, May 07, 2008
nutbastard from California, California
This is my first GPS device, and so far it's been an absolute pleasure to use, but on to the gripes:
If you are already moving when you turn the unit on, it can take up to 5 minutes to lock in your location. It's best to sit still for 30 seconds before heading off, up to a minute in wooded areas.
Some of the more out of the way roads in rural areas are somewhat incorrect. The display will show me as driving off-road in some places. This is kind of messed up, because often those windy rural roads are the ones you aren't familiar with and are difficult to navigate in any case. HOWEVER, I have not enabled user submitted map corrections so I can't be sure this isn't already fixed.
The POI database doesn't include grocery stores. A search for "grocer" might bring up a business name that contains that phrase, but i was unable to locate Trader Joes, which is, lets face it, uncool. I'm not sure if the POI database is upgradeable.
Now don't get me wrong - the route planning, re-routing, positional accuracy, voice guidance, and user interface are all excellent - Really, I love this thing. But i know the gripes are what you're looking for, and well, here they are.

5 of 5 EASY TO USE Tuesday, May 06, 2008
A Customer from Hoffman Estates, IL
I've used this for less than a month, and have not connected to the internet yet - but this little device has gotten me to quite a few places with no problem. And, learning how to use it takes only seconds. I have had zero problems so far, including the windshield holder, which I had read from others was not too good. Mine is working fine. I've used it by asking it to find both street addresses and points of interest. Only once was the street not recognized. I would definitely recommend it. The value is outstanding! I have several friends who have a different brand and they like mine better.

5 of 5 GREAT Product and Price Tuesday, May 06, 2008
Ken Larson from Duluth, GA
This TomTom One 3rd edition does exactly what you expect. This is the "No bells and whistles" version of GPS at a great price. Small and easily put in you jacket (or shirt) pocket. The two upgrades available are Mr."T's" voice and the RDC-TMS traffic add on. Customer service and on-line support were good and I have talked to the humans at CS and they were very helpful.

5 of 5 Awesome product; Highly Recommend Tuesday, May 06, 2008
Bonnie from Central Pa
I have had the TomTom One for a month now and absolutely love it. Functionality wise its great. Very easy to use - 100% plug and play. I didnt read the directions and I havent had trouble using it yet. The screen is easy to see while I am driving, the touch screen is very responsive and the voice is clear and audible. To put the value of the TomTom in prespective, I have no sense of direction. Its great just as assurance that I am going to the right way and wont waste time and gas. Its also great for exploring alternate routes. And its a tough little machine too - it flew across the car interior and it still works! Overall, great price for a great product!

5 of 5 fantastic for the price Tuesday, May 06, 2008
A Customer from Jackson, NJ
I really can't say enough good things about this unit. I have the tomtom software built into my HP travelmate and was very impressed with its accuracy and rerouting speed. My only complaint was its extremely long time in acquiring a signal at first startup each time. This dedicated Tomtom unit I bought for my father for Xmas and now for my wife for her bday is much much quicker at cold startup and still provides the great accuracy and speed I'm used to. And, it has yet to get me lost, and isn't that what GPS is all about?

1 of 5 Don't Buy this Product - Mine is Useless Tuesday, May 06, 2008
michaelclouser@iname.com from Fort Wayne, IN
My TomTom One 3rd Edition GPS worked fine for about a week, and I liked it a lot, until it rebooted in the middle of a trip, and required about 4 or 5 reset/reboot attempts before it started working again. It worked for a day or two after that and is now stuck in a endless loop of reboots. This unit is now unusable. I have not received an email response from TomTom support regarding my problem, so I don't think their customer service is very good. This GPS has a lot of good functions. I especially like the features that allows you to add new voices and correct map errors. Routing is not perfect, as choosing to ignore the first route can result in a recomputed faster route (even though "fastest route" was used for all route computations). I consider this purchase to have been wasted money.

5 of 5 Excellent portable GPS system Tuesday, May 06, 2008
A Customer from Columbia, Maryland
Great product, the ergonomics of the touchscreen and menu's are very easy to use. The only drawback is the non-text to speech which is common on GPS units in the $250+ range. The response time of typing in data is also very quick. I've been using this unit for ~1 month and are very satisfied. With the SiRF chipset the unit locks onto the satellite signals typically 1/2 minute. Highly recommended for any driver. Also the various voices and screen color themes are pretty neat to select through. Also the TomTom Home S/W that works well with the unit to backup maps and settings.

5 of 5 For the price I paid...WOW!!!!! Tuesday, May 06, 2008
thegenie23@comcast.net from Hudson, NH
I have never used a GPS device in my life. I have been in a few friends' cars and saw them navigate through the screens with ease and get us to our destination in a snap. I assumed it took some getting use to. I can't get over how easy it was to use. You hit the screen and before you know it you are on your way. It took less than 2 minutes to program a destination upon taking the product out of its packaging. It is easier to use than the stock CD player I have in my truck...go figure. I can't really compare it to other navigation devices, but for the price and the ease of use...I have never been more impressed with a purchase. I have used it on 3 trips and it has been dead on each of those trips. The only reason I gave it a 4 for performance is because I can't really compare it to other navigation devices that may have many more options. But I will tell you that there is no way another navigation device is easier to use!

4 of 5 Great but lack memory Monday, May 05, 2008
A Customer from plano,tx
GPS obtained satellites exceptionally well. Easy to use and update new map and voices. Draw backs are map is that of USA & Canada but cannot separate out so as just install one or another. Must install both maps as one. That causes the fixed 1GB to be used up and only approximately 200MB left for updates and installing new voices. Many free voices to download then install from TomTom.com or other websites. Or, you have option to create your own voice then install to your GPS. Great GPS.

5 of 5 Impressive features, easy to use, very fast, NICE! Tuesday, April 29, 2008
Ben Ramsey from Framingham, MA
I was extremely impressed with this little unit. It works flawlessly for me, is genius in it's fast recalculation of route if you make a wrong turn or go past a turn or something. It has a ton of very strong features that are easy to use and see, such as compass, speed, sites of interest (like restaurants, gas stations, etc - we did a search for the nearest Subway for instance). Everything works fast and smoothly, voice prompts are clear (with smart adjustable volume which you can customize if you want according your speed), and there's basically nothing more I could want! For such a low price you can't beat it.

5 of 5 TomTom is a fine GPS Monday, April 28, 2008
Patrick from Union, KY
I was looking for a dependable, simple GPS for my daughter. She currently has portable GPS and has had some trouble setting it, and losing satellite connections. Initially I was turned off from buying a TomTom product because of its price. But Buy.com offered one for a reasonable price. The TomTom quickly proved to be far superior to any unit we have ( Magellan and Garmin). The TomTom has the ability to upgrade daily, it can capture the satellite signal quickly and firmly, and its options are vast and useful. I heartily recommend the TomTom , well done Buy.com

5 of 5 Fabulous piece of GPS..... Wednesday, April 23, 2008
Swat.. from PA
I got this GPS yesterday. This is my first GPS... I have been looking for a good gps for a low price..I really want to use the GPS just as a travel guide...I am not interested in much of the other features. I love this piece. I downloaded the latest maps and QuickGpsFix last night. Before installing the QuickGpsFix it was not getting the signal inside my home. After I installed the fix it was amazingly catching the GPS signal. Today morning I switched it on and it immediately got the singal and the maps are very latest... really cool....for the first time users, I love to recommend this product..

5 of 5 Darn handy item! Wednesday, April 23, 2008
Linsay Turnbow from Appleton, Wisconsin
This is my first GPS. I bought it after riding in my friend's car when he had the same model. It is easy to use, simple, and gets the job done. The number of points of interest are good, though not as robust as some more expensive models. But if you are in an unfamiliar area and you want to find a restaurant or the nearest Walmart, it will guide you right to it. It starts by listing the options from nearest to your current location to farthest, but then you can use the "Find" button to type in the name if you are looking for something specific. The display is nice and bright even in the daylight, and the voice is loud and clear. I am going to get one for my mother, because she was as impressed with the ease of use as I was. At this price, it costs less than two tanks of gas.

4 of 5 Good, but no free updates Tuesday, April 22, 2008
A Customer from Norwalk, CT
I had been using TomTom Navigator on my PDA for a while now, the PDA died and I replaced it with a smartphone (still have to figure why they call then "smart" because they aren't... but I digress). I needed a new GPS, so I got this one. It does all that Nav did on the PDA, and nothing else - which is perfect for me. However, keep in mind that these refurb units don't include the free map update that the regular units come with. Mine came with map version 7.10, whereas the latest that you can get is 7.15. A regular unit would get the update for free. But for the refurb, if you want the latest map you have to shell out $100 extra. If you can live with a slightly older map get this unit, otherwise don't.

5 of 5 Works As Advertised Monday, April 21, 2008
Easily Confused from Williamsport, PA
Intuitive Design and does everything it advertises. Small screen is easily read from the driver's seat during both day and night. Very accurate GPS signal from multiple (anywhere between 5 and 15) satellites! "Help Me" feature that locates address and phone numbers for emergency services is a great addition. All around a great GPS for the easily lost and is portable enough to be carried while walking, driving, or riding a bike. No "deluxe" features like an MP3 player or FM transmitter but not an issue for someone like me. Very satisfied and would recommend to anyone. (especially for under $100.00)
