Elan's 2006 solo debut finds him effectively channeling Bob Marley's ghost on tunes like the album's title track and "My Kingston Girl," but TOGETHER AS ONE is also thoroughly contemporary, bringing in elements of dancehall, reggaeton, new wave, and club music. "Feel My Pressure," for example, has a thumping dancefloor beat, while "Do Right By You" is awash in light synthesizer touches. These combinations work remarkably well (note the pop-calypso groove of "Allnighter," featuring assistance from Gwen Stefani), making TOGETHER AS ONE a potential reggae classic for the 21st century.
