Author Bio| Patricia Reilly Giff | | Well-known for her popular series of books about the students of the Polk Street School, Patricia Reilly Giff is the author of over 70 books for children. Educated at Marymount College (B.A.), St. John's University (M.A.), and Hofstra University (professional diploma in reading), Giff has worked as a public elementary school teacher--a career which influenced her decision to create books for children. Her first book, FOURTH GRADE CELEBRITY, was published in 1979; her 1997 novel, LILY'S CROSSING, was named a Newbery Honor Book. Giff has said that LILY'S CROSSING, which is about a girl coming of age during World War II, is her most personal work. |
