5 of 5 time was of the essence Thursday, March 27, 2008
A Customer from Marietta GA

I got the product I needed in a time crunch. After a couple of days of trying to comparison shop and often finding that the product I wanted was not in stock I went to buy.com on the recommendation of a friend and got what I wanted at a good price in the time frame I needed it.THANKS

4 of 5 Analog channels suck, returning Thursday, February 14, 2008
shagitz from las vegas, nv
Analog channels suck and I can't determine after spending about six hours if it's Cox cable or Tivo. The digital and HD channels are excellent and I love the box but the crappy analog pictures were a deal breaker for my wife. If you don't watch analog, then I highly recommend it.

5 of 5 great product! Monday, February 11, 2008
A Customer from Downers Grove, IL
People familiar w/Tivo will love it. Record 1 program in hi-def while watching another in hi-def is awesome. People unfamiliar w/Tivo, man, you don't know what you're missing! Easily one of the greatest electronic inventions ever! Gave it a 4 for ease of use is b/c it was time consuming solving the resolution issues on the Tivo vs. Samsung HDTV vs. Comcast signal. The Tivo was the faulty link, but this receives little attention on the troubleshooting pages. Setting the video output to "native" (as suggested) resulted in NO PICTURE! Reset the video output to "hybrid" and now picture perfect!

4 of 5 Great DVR but I'm not really getting the full HD e Wednesday, January 02, 2008
perfectdarkmini from Sugar Grove, IL
I have used a series 2 Tivo with a single tuner for 5 years (it's still going it has a lifetime service as well) and could not wait to get one with a dual tuner and HD. I can't be more pleased with the series 3 Tivo. It has more hours of recording, transfers programs between my series2 without and problem. The HD picture is as it should be awesome!!!

Except.....

Everything is great with the Tivo and the Tivo service. However I am unable to get HD premium channels with the cable cards. I can only get HD channels that are re-broadcast over the air through cable. The problem is my cable provider is Mediacom, they do not support the use of Tivo with their cable cards. As of a month of service calls and many hours wasted I am giving up on the HD experience all because my cable provider refuses to let my Tivo work with their cable cards. If you would like to learn a great deal about Tivo and cable cards see this link:

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r19698528-IL-Mediacom-Refuses-to-pair-my-cable-cards-for-a-Series-3-Tivo

Check with your cable company first before you purchase a HD Tivo.

5 of 5 Once you've had it, you can never go back Monday, December 17, 2007
A Customer from Pittsburgh, PA
I've had a Series2 for years, but couldn't justify the cost of a Series3 when I got my HDTV ($800 + $13/month), so I went with the cable company's PVR. Boy did it suck; audio would cut out, user interface vastly inferior, slower response. Between Buy.com's great price and TiVo's option of buying lifetime subscriptions again for existing long term users during the holidays, this was a no brainer. The wife almost ordered me to do it.

4 of 5 Beats the VCR with Added Features!! Thursday, December 13, 2007
Art T. from Everett, WA
The TiVo concept takes getting used to. I think it's great. TiVo provides great power to exploit your opinion on shows that allows the recorder to record other shows you may like. Very smart! I love the capability to stream music and photos to my home entertainment system. I have moved videos to the TiVo video folder on my computer but the player has not recognized the existence of the video to date. Took some time to get the online scheduling capability to work. I assume they were downloading software to the unit over several days. I think that for $300 or $400 in addition to the cost of the player, they should provide lifetime service, they charge $100 per year for a three year commitment. Happy so far. One week into it.

5 of 5 Tivo Crushes the competition Tuesday, December 04, 2007
George Kraus from Torrington,CT.
I've owned a series 1 Tivo since 2000.I bought it with lifetime service which I think I paid $250 more for.It NEVER had a problem.Recently I was offered a deal to transfer my lifetime subscription to the series 3 HD.It was the best move I could have made.I had to buy the Tivo box $299.and pay another $199 for the transfer.I am allowed to use my original Tivo series 1 for a year for free and after that I would have to pay apprx $9-$10 per month to keep the series 1 active or I can just keep the series 3 and pay zero per month.I bought the usb Tivo wireless adapter and that's when I was blown away.I'm able to get movies, photo's,music off of all my PC's on the home network and I can burn the movies that I tape on Tivo to my PC DVD drive. This is awesome.Think about it.If you have a series like Prison Break or 24 that you enjoy, you can burn the entire series to DVD and not pay for it.I didn't mention the games that are included when you are networked to your PC,including weather reports, traffic reports,tv show pods, and even listen to hundreds of radio stations. There is also Amazon.com's Unbox which allows you to choose from 1000's of movies that you can download in minutes for rental and for buying.I can go on and on but all I have left to say is you won't regret your purchase.I know it's not cheap but look to add the lifetime service as you will never give it up.I was using my cable companies DVR and paying about $10 a month to rent it for my HDTV and using my series 1 tivo on my other non HDTV set but wasn't happy with the cable system box as it doesn't have season passes and won't tape shows for you that it thinks you may like,it is harder to blow by commercials without going past the show you are watching like Tivo.Put it this way, there is nothing on the market that can compare to Tivo.Check out Tivo.com and search for your best deal with a Lifetime Subscription and don't forget the wireless network adapter so you can eliminate phone lines and enjoy the added benefits.REMEMBER you will need cable service and the cable company will install 2 cards in your Tivo for you at a one time cost of about $45 and you need broadband service for the usb wireless setup. What more can I say,Tivo will totally change the way you watch TV.*The usb adapter is cheaper at Buy.com or Amazon.com than at Tivo.com and Ebay.Excellent family Christmas gift.

5 of 5 a must for diehard tivo users Friday, November 30, 2007
David from Seattle, WA
I have been using tivo since ~2001 and if you know and love your old tivo and are thinking about upgrading to an HD model this is a fantastic unit with all the old features and some new ones. I'm not sure its worth what they are asking but the $200 rebate brings it into its correct price range, and despite the myth you CAN still get lifetime service...the only way to go for the lifers. So if you have the means and you are already addicted to your Tivo, the series 3 is the perfect companion to HDTV, too bad it doesnt work with DirecTV...

5 of 5 Better television Wednesday, November 28, 2007
A Customer from Boyce, LA
The new tivo is a great performer, easy to set up and use. I am using it with cable but mostly off air digital signal. The recorded video is as good as live. Am using the wireless internet connection and can get movies and videos from the net. All in all, it's a great product.

5 of 5 You will love Tivo and HATE your Cable Company Friday, June 22, 2007
D Munoz from Alexandria VA
I've owned standard definition Replay, leased from Comcast a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HD HD DVRs and I’m here to tell you TiVo is by far the best. The software and interface has been thoughtfully created for both novice and technology savvy users. The guide is laid out in a logical fashion. This is the good. Now for the bad. Unfortunately, the cable providers are loath to support the special cards that allow you to use this fantastic device with the your cable channels. Configuring the two cable cards on Comcast's of Alexandria network was a fiasco of colossal proportions. After being stood-up by the cable technicians twice, I found myself contemplating switching services to a satellite provider. The technician successfully configured one of the two cable cards during the first service call. After 10 phone calls and two appointments where I was stood-up I still am no closer to having the device fully operational. You will LOVE TiVo and HATE your cable company.
