Directorially, Kukunoor is in fine form. His storytelling is taut, his vision articulate, and his execution captivating. The depiction of prison life is often disturbing and brutally realistic. But never does he cross the line between disturbing the audience and repelling them. His keen sense of entertainment is evident in every segment of his filmmaking. His skillful build of suspense is as entertaining and engrossing as the release of his plot twists at the end (Hush!).While proficient on the technical front as well, "3 Deewarein's" emotional appeal is extremely strong, giving it amazing potential to reach out to an undifferentiated audience. As always, Kukunoor reinforces that good movies are not made by gargantuan budgets and musical interludes in Switzerland, but rather by simplicity, clarity, and originality. - Vijay Ramanan
