I read somewhere that Beethoven's greatest music was written only after he had lived with pain. This statement harmonizes with Rev. Paul Zimmer's latest book, Thorn Daze. The author shares what divine healing is and what it is not from his own personal experiences. Not everyone is physically healed. When the healing does not come, God's grace does in a way that is sufficient to, not only live with pain and affliction, but to do so victoriously. Those whose thorns have not been removed by God are often endowed as special dispensers of His grace to others who suffer.
Although my experiences have been radically different than Pastor Zimmer's, I, too, have experienced the sufficiency of God's grace in the midst of growing deafness and today, with the miracle of a cochlear implant, I have been able to help many people who also struggle to hear. I commend Thorn Daze to you and your friends who are confused by the thorns God has chosen not to remove.
