I am not sure how well a unit with a fan works, but the heatpad does seem to help with cooling the computer. It is nice and flat so stores easily in my carry case. It is still a bit hot to hold the laptop in your lap (the point of a "lap"top). I do like the quiet and not having something else drain my battery faster. I think it was worth the money. I would buy this again over a fan driven unit. Was this review helpful?

I bought this pad in contrast with the thought of no motor running, which is conducive for my youngest son, whose in College. Well it's doing a fine job. My son loves it. It keeps the notebook cool by disipating the heat that is generated by the notebook. Most of all "it's quiet", so in a quiet classroom setting, there's absolutely no disturbance of his fellow students. This is a novel idea, I and my son like it a lot, great job.
