This product is one of the best I have ever used. I am a technical support tech, and have used many different ways to copy/ghost/recover data from Hard Drives. This device is a very easy way to turn a regular SATA drive into an external drive. One of the key features I purchased it for was the eSATA connection for it's speed. Was this review helpful?

I shopped around a lot before deciding on this model. Just plugged it in and it worked in Ubuntu. It works fine, but USB mode is a bit slow, about as fast as reading a DVD. I look forward to using the eSATA mode as that should be as fast as normal. The price/GB is cheaper for 1TB drives than burning DVD-R for archives, so no more burning. Only drawback is limit of 1TB, but I can live with it for now. 1TB drives are the the new floppy. Was this review helpful?

The BlacX that I received could not find the drivers for either XP or Vista. I contacted ThermalTake support and they had me mail it back to them (at my expense). After receiving the replacement BlacX, all went well. Very good product. I don't have an eSata port to test it on, but I would imagine it would be a lot faster on that than the USB port I am using now. Highly recommended. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 very fast and works well Saturday, June 28, 2008 A Customer from Tarpon Springs, FL
The Thermaltake esata dock works fantastic! It's very fast (twice as fast as usb2 on large file transfers). It also seemed to spin down the drive after 20+ minutes of inactivity, which I like, especially if used for backup drive. Simple to change out the drive and it works well. Very pleased. 5 of 5 Plug Power and Go! Tuesday, June 10, 2008 btt from Sparks, NV
USB access of course, but if your motherboard has hot-swap [e]SATA, then this is your answer for effortlessly moving HD's around. If you have SATA, but it's not hotswap, then plug in, power up the drive, THEN boot up your system -- not as convenient though. Yea, it's shaped like a brick, but what a brick!
Finally, I've had no unusual behaviors or drops with the eSATA on this device - rock solid! Was this review helpful?
