this unit has 2 fans, great idea. it should double the chances of your HD doesn't get burned up. had it a couple months now works good.
don't buy a HD Enclosure without a fan. not worth the RISK. Was this review helpful?

I have bought many enclosures and have been disappointed with most. When using a high capacity 7200rpm hard disk, all other enclosures get too hot and cook the drives. In fact, I had an expensive, high-end Adaptec ACS-300 enclosure that cooked 2 of my Seagate drives. This enclosure has an 80mm case fan on the side of the enclosure that blows directly on the drive. It is also fully vented on the front and back. It keeps my drive cooler, by far, than any other enclosure I've ever used. I did have one problem with this enclosure. After about a week, the fan started making a clicking sound. Thermaltake shipped a replacement unit right away and this one has been running flawlessly for a few weeks now. Great service from Thermaltake.
One caution... There is another cheaper Max 4 enclosure out there with a slightly different model number. That is the same enclosure but without the 80mm fan. Make sure you get this model that says Max 4 "Active" enclosure, model number N0012USU. Was this review helpful?
