5 of 5 Primo quality simple device! Monday, August 17, 2009 Rob from Los Angeles, CA
Accepts both 2.5 inch (laptop size) and 3.5 inch SATA drives. I have four of these! One at work, one in home office, one in bedroom, and a backup. They work great and I highly reccommend them to anyone.
I only wish that they made one with Firewire 400/800. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Wonder product Friday, January 02, 2009 A Customer from Lake Zurich, IL
This is my second BlacX N0028USU Docking Station. The first one allowed painless upgrade of Raid 1 HD's. Now I can load the old HD's with video through it at the computer, schlep them to the big TV and plug into this second unit piggybacked into USB DVD player. The only way to go. The only possible improvement would be an IR remote for the power switch. Until the remote got lost. Of course you can just leave it on - hot swappable.
I ordered it with free shipping Friday PM and received it Saturday AM. WOW! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Does As It Claims Sunday, August 03, 2008 A Customer from Tucson, AZ
The Thermaltake BlacX USB external drive dock is the best thing to happen to the technically handicapped. For those of us who don't know how to install disc drives or can't seem to find the right external case for our drive this is the "8-track player" for the modern age. Simply slide the hard drive into the slot, wait for it to settle, plug it into the USB port, turn it on, and you're ready to go.
My only notification about this product is that there is no support for the drive once in the dock slot, so by turning it on you must be careful not to wiggle the disc drive when in the station. It is free standing while in the dock, so I would highly recommend that once you have the drive installed into the station keep the unit in a safe place that is rarely visited by human and animal alike (I have a cat who loves to explore my desk any chance she gets, so I keep mine surrounded by other objects to prevent her from getting near it.). 5 of 5 A great idea! Tuesday, June 03, 2008 Pepper from Satsuma, AL
I'm using one of these for easily swapping the external hard drive storage on my Dish ViP622 HD DVR which supports external USB drives. It works flawlessly and is much more convenient than having each drive in its own USB enclosure. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Very simple to use. Sunday, March 16, 2008 GSW from Plant City, FL
This was an easy way to make use of some extra hard drives. I make an image of my drive using the BlacX and store it for safety. No need to open the computer! Couldn't be simpler to use. Was this review helpful?
