| | | | "There's a monster under my bed. I can hear him breathing. Listen. I told you. There's a monster under my bed..." (from the first line) Simon decides that he's old enough to sleep without a nightlight. But soon, he can hear something breathing under the bed--and he just knows it's a monster! "A surprise and a reassuring ending come when he finds who is really under the bed".--Boston Globe. Annotation: Who is under Simon's bed? Lying awake, he imagines lots of monsters, only to be surprised--and reassured--when he discovers who's really there.
| Author Bio| James Howe | | James Howe's career as a writer began in grade school when he wrote and edited a newsletter, "The Gory Gazette," for his classmates and friends. Although he loved writing, Howe's original career goal was to be an actor. After graduating from Boston University, he moved to New York City with his wife, Deborah, to pursue acting jobs. The couple began writing the book BUNNICULA in 1977, not realizing that Howe was beginning a new career as a children's writer. Since Deborah Howe's death in 1978, James Howe has written several sequels to their original work, as well as picture books, novels, and nonfiction. |
