A hilarious retelling of the traditional story. It's time for the three little wolves to go out on their own, so off they go to build themselves a sturdy brick house. They hadn't reckoned on a big bad pig with a sledgehammer! Oxenbury's enchanting watercolor illustrations, full of delightful details, will entertain all ages.

Annotation:
A humorous retelling of the story of the "Three Little Pigs." In this version, three young wolves are the innocent victims of a nasty pig who destroys first their brick house, then one made of stone, and finally one of steel. Will the wolves find a way to outwit the pig? Watercolor illustrations accompany the text.

Author Bio
Helen Oxenbury
British author and illustrator Helen Oxenbury began her career as a set designer for theater, television, and film and only turned to illustrating books after the birth of her children. Oxenbury was one of the first author/illustrators to create board books for preschoolers--simple picture books printed on durable cardstock with little or no text. She is also well known for her picture book series about a toddler named Tom and his stuffed toy monkey, Pippo. Oxenbury has won the Kate Greenaway Medal for her illustrations for Edward Lear's THE QUANGLE WANGLE'S HAT and Margaret Mahy's THE DRAGON OF AN ORDINARY FAMILY.

5 of 5 Love this book Sunday, September 18, 2005

My four (almost Five) year old loves this book. I had to read it ten times in the first twenty hours of having the book. The end brings on delightful laughter while the begining adds in some really great words like "pneumatic drill." It's fun for all children, age 1 to 100!
