The indomitable Kay Scarpetta, medical examiner extraordinaire [is back] . . . When it comes to the forensic sciences, nobody can touch Cornwell, who analyzes cyberspace crime as effortlessly as she walks us through cutting-edge lab technology and elucidates clinical obsession.--"New York Times Book Review."

Annotation:
Fame and riches are dangerous assets. Thanks to her appearances on CNN--and her nearly perfect record, Dr. Kay Scarpetta's reputation is growing, which is good for her career as a celebrity forensic pathologist. But when she receives a creepy phone call while live on the air and then finds a frighteningly mysterious package waiting at her apartment, Scarpetta starts thinking twice about the offer from CNN for her own TV show called the SCARPETTA FACTOR. But at this point, she's already gotten wrapped up in a case involving some super rich, a sex scandal, and another celebrity. Fans of Patricia Cornwell's long-running and exceedingly popular series will be thrilled to know that all their favorite characters making appearances. This seventeenth addition to the series won't disappoint!

Praise
"It's good to sit down with old friends around the holidays, even if one is a trouble magnet. In fact, that's a lot of the allure of Cornwell's best-known character." (top pick) - Pat Cooper 12/01/2009

Author Bio
Patricia Cornwell
Patricia Cornwell is no stranger to the morgue. In researching her often violent suspense novels, she ensures authenticity in her work by frequently accompanying medical examiners as they perform autopsies. Also contributing to the accuracy of her novels is her experience working as a crime reporter, and as a records auditor in the Richmond, Virginia medical examiner's office. Cornwell exploded onto the mystery scene in 1990 with "Post Mortem", one of the most critically acclaimed debuts ever, and the first novel to win an Edgar Award, Anthony Award, Macavity Award and the John Creasey Award all in one year. Cornwell's initial inspiration to write came from her close neighbor and friend, Ruth Bell Graham, the wife of evangelist Billy Graham. Cornwell's first book, a biography of Graham, was published in 1983. Ironically the book caused a rift in their relationship, but Cornwell followed it with a series of mysteries that would make her famous and wildly successful.
