| | Album Notes and Credits | Notes & Personnel Info | | Producers include: Orbital, Line Of Flight, Jim Abbiss, Moby, Fluke. | | Most of the songs on this soundtrack are available elsewhere, but together they make an excellent overview of the budding electronica movement, with contributions from some of the electronic world's biggest stars and some of the more adventurous performers in modern pop. Like the movie, a big-screen version of the '60s TV action series, the soundtrack maintains a consistent feel of darkness and danger. The chattering synthesizers and heart-stopping breakbeats of artists like Moby, Orbital and Underworld brush up against the more traditional but equally unsettling sounds of art-popsters like Duncan Sheik, Duran Duran and the grand old man of disturbing-but-catchy Brit-rock, David Bowie. Ol' Ziggy's contribution, "Dead Man Walking" (from his concurrent album, EARTHLING), is one of the strongest entries here. THE SAINT is a crossroads where new and old meet and conspire to unnerve all comers. |

| | Professional Reviews | | Entertainment Weekly (5/2/97, p.61) - "Val Kilmer fans (and those who aren't) can use this consistent, multitextured collection to catch up on the many faces of electronica....THE SAINT is as moody and alluring as ol' Val himself." - Rating: A-Q (6/97, p.137) - 4 Stars (out of 5) - "This is a surprisingly bold soundtrack,...eschewing the usual play-safe big-name formula for a heavy emphasis on the cutting edge of dance..." |
