    Annotation:
One of the most widely read books in America after its publication in the 1950s, THE POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING is a classic in the field that later became known as self-help. Rev. Peale combined Christian spirituality with an awareness of human pychology and modern problems. His writings inspired and brought consolation to his readers. Here, he cites the Bible, advocates faith and prayer, and offers the optimistic advice conveyed in the succinct title. This is Peale's major work.

  • Author Bio

Norman Vincent Peale is best known for the influential bestseller from the '50s, "The Power of Positive Thinking". Born in Ohio, Peale was educated at Ohio Wesleyan University and embarked on a career in journalism, which soon proved unsatisfying. He then enrolled in Boston University, where he studied for the ministry. In 1932 he was named minister of the Marble Collegiate Church in New York City. Peale was aware of the power of the media and used it well. He appeared on television and radio, and wrote articles in magazines and newspapers, attracting a wide following and paving the way for the huge interest in self-help books to come in later decades.
