5 of 5 The Best TV Show in 10 Years Wednesday, January 07, 2004 Richard Johnson from Sydney Australia
The Office is quite simply the best TV show Iv'e seen in the last 10 years, maybe more. It is so well written, acted (Tim and Davids facial expressions are just genius) funny, very very touching at times, brilliantly funny and it does hit the raw nerve and makes you scream for a way out. It really does reflect modern corperate life the world over. There is the inept boss, the 'arse licker', the delusioned puppy (who take it all at face value), the ambitious I want to get to the top (OF WHAT??) type, the 'lad' type and perhaps like most of us, the cynical seen it all just trying to survive in a mad world type. The sad thing, funny and so well observed as it is, it isn't far from what really goes on. We all just shovel pieces of paper for an inane purpose and clamber over each other to get on.....The Christmas special was a pure touch of genius and brings a tear to the eye, particularly for one oh so very brief second at the end when David's actually funny, his old crew laugh at his joke and the world seems a beautiful place, just oh so fleetingly though. The conclusion to the long running office unrequited love affair is well what can I say, a ray of hope. How they pulled it off just by brilliant observed comedy, facial expressions and timing is beyond me. I would say the 2 special last episodes are the BEST thing Iv'e ever seen on TV. I was expecting a reworked lame duck but it surpassed all expectaions. I could rant on but believe me this is pure pure genius. Buy all the DVD's and safely treasure and keep next to Fawlty Towers, Withnail and I , The Lord of The Rings trilogy and Blade Runner for the sake of future generations to come. 5 of 5 Hilarious Sunday, October 19, 2003 A Viewer from new york city
it is one of the most hilarious shows to come along in awhile. it's shot documentary style and chronicles a bunch of office workers that work for a kooky boss. the actors are brilliant. what i like is that they look like ordinary joes that work in an office and not your typical dolled up nit wits. very well acted & written, a must see. 5 of 5 Funniest Show Ever! Wednesday, September 10, 2003 jstorms from Austin, TX
My BIL just returned from a 2-year stint in England and he brought this DVD with him. I sat down to watch this and didn't get up until I had watched the whole thing. I was laughing so hard that I was sore the next day.
I'm a big fan of the Office Space movie, but this takes the office experience to a whole new level.
Basically, this is a show of office workers doing boring, tedious work. The boss, David, thinks everyone is SO happy, because he's such a hoopy guy. In fact, the entire office is obviously miserable BECAUSE the boss is so out of touch.
A great show. A must see. Was this review helpful?
