An old ten-man dragon in a Chinatown shop window turns Peter Chang's summer visit to Great Aunt into an exciting adventure. The Last Dragon's silk is faded and torn, and its eyes are gone, but Peter finds people willing to help restore the dragon to life. Watercolor illustrations.
Annotation: Ten-year-old Peter Chang is spending the summer with his great-aunt in Chinatown. The vacation seems dull until he discovers her old 10-man dragon which he is given permission to restore. The local tailor agrees to sew up the holes in the dragon in exchange for errands; the kitemaker fixes the tail; and the great-aunt's mahjongg friends gild the horns of the dragon. Peter's summer ends with a banquet that honors the restoration of the dragon and with Peter fully appreciating the culture of Chinatown.
