The Kanji Dictionary (Hardcover)

I've used many kanji dictionaries throughout my Japanese learning experience and The Kanji Dictionary is one I consistently rely upon as an accurate, clear, comprehensive source for kanji. Each kanji is listed with its meanings. The best part about this is how the meanings are divided into what pronunciation it has, whether it's in On or Kun readings. Therefore, each pronunciation is associated with a different meaning, if any which eliminates the confusion of having to memorize multiple definitions when you may not need them. Each kanji is also accompanied by its older form used before the reforms after World War II. Not many Japanese kanji dictionaries in English would do that. Also, the system with which to find the kanji is simply convenient and easy to use. With Japanese kanji, unlike the original Chinese characters, there are multiple pronunciations to find a kanji. By utilising this dictionary's "simple search by radical" method, one can find any Japanese kanji. Also, unlike most kanji dictionaries, the compounds are also given in which the specific kanji is not in front of it. This gives the reader many more compounds to explore. The only negative thing about this dictionary is how the On and Kun pronunciations are not in kana, they're in romanji with the On readings capitalized and the Kun readings in lowercase. Other than that, this dictionary has everything one would desire from an English kanji dictionary, especially if you're still in the process of learning Japanese and reading it.
