5 of 5 Insulin Resistance Diet -- Food for Thought Monday, March 10, 2008
Gail, http://blog.losing-weight-over-40.com from Loxahatchee, FL

The Insulin Resistance Diet, by Cheryle Hart, M.D. and Mary Kay Grossman, R.D., makes a compelling case for changing your diet to change the way your body reacts to the insulin it produces. Once over a certain age, usually late 30's, our bodies change. Our eating habits tend to be abysmal, however, and after years of abuse, it finally starts to give up -- and hence Type II Diabetes. The authors cover how insulin effects fat; the signs and symptoms of insulin resistance; and what to do about it. The diet they propose isn't wacky, nor does it cut out (or severely limit) any one food group -- in other words, a sensible diet. It's just the way you eat the foods that help you to lose the weight. For anyone in their 30's or older and has gained weight (especially around the middle), I recommend this book as a must-read. At the very least it's food for thought.
