A band that garnered a Platinum record (their self titled debut, featuring their #1 single “Breakdown”), a strong sophomore release (After We Go) on Maverick Records, and considerable critical acclaim saw members depart, their label change direction and the bottom drop out of their future. Not one to give up, vocalist (and remaining original member) Hugo Ferriera pressed on and turned it all around.

The End Beginstruly closes the door on what Tantricused to be and shows rock fans everywhere what can be done with talent, passion and a unique take on what modern Rock & Roll should sound like.”Every ending gives birth to a new beginning,” says vocalist Hugo Ferriera.

Now joining Ferriera is Kevin Miller (ex-FUEL) a “hard-hitting drummer… a human metronome” with experience on his side, Joe Pessia, an intricate, detailed player “really internalizes the guitar parts and puts this incredible spin on them,” Erik Leonhardt “a great bass player AND a great singer, he makes the harmonies in the songs pop,” and a most unusual addition, “the wild card,” classically trained violin player, Marcus Ratzenboeck. “The violin is specifically written for on this album. It’s not just put on top of the music,” says Pessia. “We are treating his violin like a guitar,” Ferriera adds. The differences one experiences in the ‘new’ Tantric is, in large part, to the varied influences and personalities in the band. “The relationships within the band make the music what it is,” Miller explains. “Erik is into the heavy side of rock, Kevin has seen and done a lot in his previous projects, Marcus plays with orchestras… all this diverse input colors what Hugo does too because its fresh perspective on his process,” adds Pessia.

Characterized by chugging riffs, gruff vocals, and driving beats, Tantric have long carried the sonic flame of grunge figureheads like Alice in Chains and Soundgarden. The group's fourth album comes after a major group overhaul in which three of the original members left, leaving singer Hugo Ferreira to recruit a second line-up. Newly energerized, Ferreira returned to the studio to record THE END BEGINS, a return to the feel of Tantric's first album. The album is melody-heavy, even verging into crossover alt-rock territory at times, but Tantric still kicks hard in the classic post-grunge tradition.

5 of 5 Highly Recommended - Fabulous...... Saturday, August 09, 2008
A Listener from Sarasota, FL

"The End Bagins" Is Fabulous. The music is new and fresh. Clasical flavour meets hard rock! What? Yes! The lyrics are gripping with emotions. This is one artistictly refined album even for the trained ear. The hit single "Down and Out" is really cool as every song on this CD is a hit. I just check the Rolling Stones magazine and it shows "Down and Out" single as #7 on the Charts! Now hear it for yourself and enjoy!

2 of 5 Not good...not terrible Friday, March 21, 2008
Dan from Milwaukee, WI
"The End Begins" is a huge letdown. If you love Tantric's other works, you'll want to steer clear of this one. This album has no flavor, and nearly every track will put you to sleep. Hugo Ferreira sounds drunk and you can hardly understand a word he sings. They tried to add some flavor to their album by incorporating a violin/fiddle, but they overdid it by putting it in almost every song on the album...by the time you hear the second song, you'll be sick of it being there. The one high point of the album is the third track, called "The One", which features Kevin Martin of Candlebox. The song isn't anything special, but Martin's unique sound will perk your ears up for a moment or two...but that's mostly because the rest of the album is so vanilla.
