| | | The Definitive First-Person Shooter Experience for the Wii. The Conduit takes players into a dark story in Washington D.C. after a vicious alien invasion has rocked the country. An organization called the Trust has sent in Secret Service agent, Mr. Ford, to go up against the insect-like alien race known as "The Drudge." Armed with an array of futuristic weaponry and an intelligence-gathering device simply called the "All-Seeing Eye," players follow an intricate storyline filled with conspiracy, shady government activity and terrifying aliens. The Conduit's detailed control system allows players to customize and configure look sensitivity, turning speed, the dead zone and much more. As players delve further into the mystery behind the extraterrestrial invasion, shocking details reveal that the invasion may have been brought on with help from the government itself. After a full-scale alien attack on Washington D.C., suspicions arise as to the involvement of the U.S. government. Armed with sci-fi gadgets and high-powered weapons, players will battle aliens, rogue agents and enemy forces as a former secret service agent codenamed "Mr. Ford." Built exclusively for Wii, The Conduit pushes the boundaries of the platform from incredible award-winning graphics to robust controls that are customizable on-the-fly. This action-packed, first-person shooter from the creators at High Voltage Software also supports Wii Speak. | | Entertainment Reviews | | The Conduit for the Nintendo Wii Review By: Mark Kalriess - Blogcritics.org Reviews Published on: 7/28/2009 8:24 AM | | Many have been clamoring for a "hardcore" Wii game that shows the Wii can do mature gaming just as well as the 360 or PS3. This Wii-exclusive shooter has been hyped all year as the "hardcore savior" of the Wii. Developer High Voltage Software claimed to be getting all out of the Wii it could with this game, tailoring it to the Wii's control scheme and creating a new graphics engine specifically for the console. So many expectations have been placed on this game that it is really impossible for it to meet them all. The Conduit is a decent first-person shooter, but it is not a game that is going to change how anyone looks at the Wii....read the full review |
| | Professional Reviews | GamePlayer.com 8 of 10 As huge fans of Wii, we're really sick of being told that the console isn't powerful enough for certain genres of videogame. In particular, Xbox 360 and PS3 fan-boys like to stick the boot in about not having a killer First Person Shooter (FPS) on the system. This is quite ironic, since they may have some wicked FPS titles, but their control schemes (namely, dual analogue sticks) truly suck the big one! Nothing on the next-gen consoles has even come close to emulating the accuracy of "mouse-look" which was made popular in PC gaming...The Wii however is a completely different kettle of fish. While it may not sport HD visuals, it's got one of the most innovative control systems from the last decade. The Wii-mote works extremely well as a pointer, and it's just been waiting for the right title, to really let its hair down! Sega and High Voltage Software deserve kudos for delivering the FPS experience we all believed was possible on Wii. What it may lack in originality, it more than makes up for in balls-to-the wall action and ultra-slick visuals ? some of the best ever seen in a Wii title. The game rockets on at a frantic pace, and for most of the seven or so hours that the single-player campaign lasts you'll be nailed to the edge of the seat...The control system in The Conduit is stellar, and best of all it's completely customisable, as is HUD placement and transparency. We played using the system defaults and found the setup to be brilliant. It is easily the most accurate way to play FPS games on any console to date. The only issue we had was an occasional hiccup when we were trying to turn around in narrow spaces, but this was overcome with an 'up' press of the D-Pad...The Conduit's single player experience burns hard and fast. It's not that long, but it really delivers the goods. As you'd expect, online multiplayer also makes the cut. The Conduit offers 12-way multiplayer with Wii-Speak support, a solid collection of maps, and some entertaining modes of play including Capture the ASE, Deathmatch, and Bounty Hunter. You will need to use friend codes, but this is little deterrent for such a great package...We're surprised to hear ourselves say it, but we actually had as much fun playing The Conduit, as we did with Metroid Prime Corruption. It really did blow us away. - Anthony Hetrih
