Author Bio

Jan Berenstain is best known for her books featuring the Berenstain Bears, a family of humorous bears that she created in collaboration with her husband, Stan. The couple met as students at the Philadelphia College of Art and began writing children's books when they were unable to find enough funny books to satisfy their son. The duo has made many contributions to the Beginner Books series, which was created by Dr. Seuss in an effort to help children learn to read by using humor and a controlled vocabulary.
