I recently purchased the commander and had it professional installed. Right off the bat i could hear the difference in the sound from my factory radio. After I joined xm radio and recieved the stations the stero has never sounded better and the sound is crisper. Eventhough you lose the signal once in a while it is only for a second and its back. This system is proably one of ther better buys on the market for xm radio. The best thing is that you do not need a cassett player and everything you need is in the box so there is no need to buy anything else unless you need antena adapters Was this review helpful?

I researched the XM radios and the top three are the Delphi, Roady, and the Terk Commander.
Each of the first two require add-ons to accomdate the type of installation you want to do. The Roady comes wit hthe cassette adapter, but this is not the best choice to use the XM unless you are using it in a rental car, but that car must have a cassette palyer to use the cassette adapter. The RF modulator is the send best way to install an XM radio. This goes in-line with your car antenna and feeds XM through your radio on a FM radio frequency, which you can set to an unused FM frequency. The RF modulator is a $50 or more $$ add-on for all except the Terk Commander. The home kit is also an add-on for all except the Term Commander. So the Term Commander comes with the RF modulator and RCA jacks out for line inputs on your stereo system. I took the Comander out of the box in my family room, put a small 12 volt supply on it, set the moble antenna on the window sill and started receiving XM shortly after. XM has about 120 channels, and there are special holiday music channels around the holidays. I jacked the XM directly into the two RCA jacks on the front of my Sony receiver that said Video3-IN. I was only testing it here, I could have jacked it into any unused Line-in on the rear, such as the cassette, DVD, CD, or AUX inputs. It only took an hour of jumping around channels to know that XM was the radio for me. They have lots of everything, or of it static free. The music channels are mostly all commercial free. The only talking you might hear could be a DJ talking about the artist, and some of them are completly talk free. The Commander has a nice Blue backlighted display, and the dial has a blue ring around it. The Commander is full featured and will let you tag up to 15 songs in memory. Whenever one is playing anywhere on XM, the display will show "Song Found" and show you where, a push of the Enter button will take you there. You can keep adding to the list, but once you reach 15, it starts tossing the oldest entries out as the new entries come in. You can chnage the display to show Music Title and Artist, Channel Name, Number and Title. and I forgot what the other was. I like the artist and music title most of the time in case I want to buy it. You will hear tons of what you like, and tons of great stuff you never heard before. XM is here to stay. The Comander is the best deal in XM. I ordered my second Commander the next day. Was this review helpful?

I had been researching XM Radio for a few months. I finally came across the XM Commander. I wanted something that would allow me not to change my exsisting stereo. The Commander does just that. I had it professionally installed. It is really worth the $55 to have it done. The sound quality is excellent, and it is very easy to use. Now that I am getting used to having satellite radio, I do not know why I ever wanted to keep my exsisting car stereo. The Commander is a great choice for satellite radio. Was this review helpful?
