Ever since I switched to Directv HD the commercials blast you off your seat. This product fix the problem. The only thing you can't do with HD is hook up to TV. You hook up sound out of Satellite Box into a stereo receiver and turn down your your TV sound to 0. Much better sound quality out of receiver anyway. Your sound will stay at constant sound levels Was this review helpful?

It does exactly what it says, without causing any noticeable compromise on what you are actually watching between those commercial breaks. And it couldn't be any simpler to use, I think my dad might even be able to figure out how to hook this thing up and that's saying a lot! Was this review helpful?

This gadget really does work! We constantly had the remote in hand to adjust volume before setting up this little baby.
My only complaint is that with our TV (a large projection model set up w/digital converter and antenna) there is a slight popping sound when the regulator adjusts the volume. Does anyone else have this experience?

I never could stand the volume of TV shows going up and down. Enter a commercial and the volume jumps ten fold. Well not any more. I haven't changed my volume level since I recieved this VR1. From channel to channel ads or show I can hear everything and I don't have to worry about a loud noise waking anyone up at night.
In short... I'm buying another one for the basement TV. Was this review helpful?

I could never put down the remote, my finger was on the volume control all the time. Changing stations where one was inaudible and the next rattled the windows, loud commercials and quiet whispers, all are the same level now. Easy to install, it works just the way you'd want it to. When the old Magnavox with "smart Sound" died, watching TV became a chore... the "artistic" sound from the movies drove us crazy, with soft talk followed by sonic booms... and bride and self would argue about who had to use the remote to lower the sound level or "On/Off" the mute button. Not hearing the whispers made us lose the story line, and we'd just skip some of the unequal sound track movies.
Works as advertised, maintains the sound level where you set it.
You DO need to have RCA plugs (the red and white coded terminals) on your tv, and you need to have a satellite or cable box or another adapter for input to the volume regulator.
Occasionally I hear a few tiny "cracks and hisses" as the sound leveller works, but this is very minor, and only happens on some of the wilder action movies... (my wife can't even hear them). Certainly not a problem.
My delivery time was great... just five days, including a weekend.
ummmmm... wonder why no TV manufacturer has built this in... seems to me it would be a no brainer selling point.
The VR1 would be a great value to us at twice the price.

This little gem does exactly what it says. Volume on annoying commercials (Billy Mayes) never rise so you can enjoy your entire television experience. Great for people who like to have the TV on when they sleep or people who have roommates. Was this review helpful?

This product does just what it claims. It has brought peace to the household. It couldn't be easier to hook up, very intuitive. I don't understand why some folks have said it doesn't work? Either their device is defective or perhaps they have it hooked up incorrectly, although that would be difficult to do. I agree with the vast majority of users, if you're having volume issues with your TV, this product is just what you need. Was this review helpful?

Simply amazing - does everything it says, and then some! It is so easy to hookup, you don't need directions, and once you turn it on you will never turn it off. It uses breakthrough "Octiv" volume balancing technology to keep commercials quiet, bring out whispers and keep you from having to play disc jockey with your remote control every time you change channels.
