| | | | The essence of urban a sleek, lightweight, street-smart satchel that holds a ton, yet hugs your body, moves with you, and doesn`t cramp your style. A removable photo insert allows you to convert it quickly from a camera bag to a general purpose gym bag, book bag, school bag or briefcase.
The Tenba Messenger bag is a satchel type shoulder bag with over 20 pockets and compartments to hold everything from iPod to eyeglasses, pens to paperbacks, cards to cords etc. The integrated padded laptop sleeve will hold most laptops up to 17", and the roomy main compartment is equally well suited for business essentials, basic photo gear, or even clothes and supplies for a day's travel or trip to the gym. A quick access zipper across the top lets you get at the laptop and other contents without opening the main flap, and a special reinforced,
rubberized panel on the bottom of the bag is moisture and abrasion-resistant. It can be carried comfortably with either the included contoured shoulder strap, or the comfort grip handle.

5 of 5 Very well designed Wednesday, June 18, 2008 Oli from Berkeley, CA
I just want to say that this product is amazingly well designed. Some little details in its design and manufacturing tells you that there is a lot of experience behind it. Was this review helpful?

the only thing about the bag i don't like is that most (almost all) of the little pockets are outside of zippered compartments
--
so, if an item slips out of its pocket, it could be lost
--
granted, some of the pockets are "inside" the bag, but if the bag is on its side (overhead compartment) or is turned upside down and the main flap is not extra tight against the open compartment, then there's a good chance small loose items will find their way out of the bag
--
if your bag is always upright, then no worries
--
i just got the bag - i might just be paranoid about this
--
i'm using this as a laptop satchel/briefcase only (no camera equipment)

For quite a long time, Tenba camera bags served the professional photographer quite well. They have a history of smart design and strong construction. Ive had what can only be described as an obsession with bags for as long as I can remember: unique Bug Bags from the 1980s, German Hama (rugged like you would expect), and a Rimowa case to travel with. This Tenba Prodigital 2.0 (medium) Messenger bag is the smartest container I think Ive ever used. The messenger design exchanges width for height, thus allowing the photographer to sling it over the opposite shoulder and easily access compartments.
If you do not want to use the bag for cameras, the insert is removable; but that is not my intention. There is enough room in the insert for an Olympus E510 with a 14-54 mm lens, as well as a 7-14 mm and a large 50-200 mm lens. I attached a pouch to the side for a flash or my Canon G9. There is room for a slim notebook pc, or in my case, a LaCie Ruggeda very small external hard drive-and a Nokia N800. Pockets for filters batteries etc are abundant. Everything about this bag is smart and thoughtful.
As I said, I am obsessed with all things container and also have a Crumpler messenger bag and photo insert. When the Tenba arrived, I retired the insert and use the Crumpler for everyday junkand throw in the Canon G9. One can never be without the Canon G in New York City.
