Targus 15.4" Brilliance Convertible Backpack/Messenger, TBB001US

I love this bag, it is spacious, durable, highly protective for sensitive/electronic items. You dont need any extra backup as it is expandable and can hold personal items for one person along with Laptop.I purchased this in 2007 and i always feel proud having this bought.

I love this bag. It's very durable, I've had it for a year and around 6 months, and it's still brand new. I use it for college only though, and I don't usually have a lot of books in it. I got it when it was on sale for $15 and it's definitely worth it, HOWEVER, I really don't think it's worth the $70 it's at right now. Keep an eye on it though!

First of all, no, it isn't as comfortable as a backpack. You won't be throwing it over your shoulder like old faithful. The straps work but they're like straps on a box; An afterthought. That said, it's a very nice computer & brief case that can be carried by handle, the shoulder strap, or worn on your back should the need arise. Pros: 1) Attractive, 2) seems durable and well made, except for the handle 3) great organizational arrangement with plenty of pockets. It's nice to be able to carry manila folders normally instead of on their sides! 4) It's expandable by about 1.5 inches, which is handy when I need to carry two full-size notebooks. 5) The extra width vs. most backpacks means I can carry plenty without it becoming overly fat. Suppose this is also cause for the boxiness and strap compromise, but it works for me. Cons: 1) The main handle is goofy. It's a big lump of padding on a very thin and flexible strap that rolls over on itself from day one. Only one rivet reinforcement on each side. Given the rest of the bag's appearance Targus definitely should have put more effort into the handle. Check Swissgear's handles for contrast. 2) The top doesn't close well. The upper sides tend to pooch outwards, opening themselves to the elements. I like the accessibility when open but it seems like something could be done to ensure the bag top closes better.

I did a lot of research on bags and was hesitant in buying a bag without being able to get my hands on it. I did check out various other Targus bags at local stores and was happy with the construction so I took a chance. I'm very happy with this bag. The laptop compartment is nicely padded. There are two sleeves inside the main compartment that have been great for my mouse and PSP. Also plenty of room for my power brick and a book. There is an outside zipper that makes more room inside which is nice. The handle is comfortable as well as the shoulder strap. It feels fine either over the shoulder or carried like a messenger bag. This is with about 8lbs of stuff in there. I tried the backpack part once and it seems fine, but I haven't adjusted it to my liking yet. For the price, you really can't go wrong.

Lots of pockets. Fits my laptop with a PCMCIA card sticking out of it. My only beef with it is that it's a bit on the heavier side. To be fair, this is the first laptop bag I've owned in about 10 years, so it may be a standard weight for its class. This really is a 5 overall, but Buy.com doesn't offer a weight rating, and I need to show it's imperfect...

Roomy, sturdy, handsome and easy to carry are the hallmarks of this great bag. The material is of high-quality, the zippers are reliable and don't snag and, when you catch BUY.COM on a good day, the price is astonishingly reasonable. (I won't even mention the low price I paid back when I bought this and took advantage of the rebate(s) available at the time. You'd weep at lost opportunities.) The only thing that might improve this bag is if it came with a built-in solar panel to help recharge things inside. Otherwise, BUY THIS BAG and be a happy camper!

What a bargain on this. Think I paid $15. Fits my new 15.4" laptop nicely with lots of room and compartments for anything you could possibly think of. Seems well made. Guess only thing that would be better would be a rolling version since it could get heavy carrying in the airport - included backpack straps should help in that regard though. Very happy with this purchase. Another winner for Buy.com.

I initially thought the Targus 15.4 in laptop case was too good to be true at the clearance like price I got it for ($15), but it arrived and has been used on a regular basis now for 1 month. Not a leather case but has all of the pockets/storage spaces the average joe could want and appears fairly durable. Good deal considering what you pay at the big box stores for much more.

Found What I was looking for, I really liked the way the bag is shaped up to accommodate the stuff in an organized way. I liked it and the extra pads give sufficient protection to the laptop. Over all, Iam satisfied with it.

This bag is much better than I had expected. It is slightly heavier than expaected also. It has a place for just about everything. I don't think I'll ever have to "dig through it" to find what I want, I'll just have to remember which compartment I put it in (lol) overall good value and a lot of thinking went into the design

This notebook case is made of good quality materials and has many inner pockets for any additional accessories (or folders and note pads) you might want to carry. It's flexible in such a way that you can carry it as an attache bag (like a briefcase) or as a backpack. The only downside is that it's a little big. Granted for a 15.4" laptop, your case can't be too small but my wife was a little thrown off when she saw the size of it. (I don't think it would be that much of a deal for a guy, IMHO). But she is using it and it's doing what it's supposed to do and that's what matters most!

This is a well thought out and well made bag. Excellent for my commuting needs. It looks ok for the money I paid for it. My Thinkpad T61p fits fine in it and feels secure. The bag feels well balanced when loaded and holds together under stress.

This case is great bag at an excellent price. It can be used as either a back-pack or a sholder strap. The straps are heavily cushioned, which makes the bag feel very light. There are several compartments to store several miscellenous items. My The case holds twice as much material as my previous case, while being half the size. Overall it's a deal, and does everything that I need it to do.

This laptop case is beautifully made as Targus products usually are. I actually don't have a laptop at this time, but thought I could use this bag as a general carry-all. The price from Buy.com was too good to pass up. I find the bag is a lot heavier than I thought it would be and I may give it to my brother who has a laptop.

I purchased this item for my son, not knowing he already had one...when he saw it he flipped out. He claims this is the best laptop bag he has ever owned and was thrilled to have a replacement. He paid more than 3 times for this bag than I did here on buy.com...I wish they had more but you gotta strike while the iron is hot! Excellent purchase..as always from Buy.com.

I've been looking for a bag similar to this for a while to replace the five year old bag that had started to show some wear on its pads. This bag has a lot of pockets that are important for a gadget guru. There's a place for an mp3 player, another for cell phone, and other electronic gadgets that you may have. The particular feature that I find very handy is the little zippered pocket at the top of the bag on the flap. It's a very great place to put things such as your id badges, keys that you access the most without having to open the bag completely. There's enough padding for the laptop portion, and I do feel it is sitting there securely. The only thing that I feel very insecure is its workmanship. Although I've only had it for a few weeks, I don't believe that the zipper can last a lifetime. But, then again, as long as it lasts more than two years, I should be happy considering the price that I paid.

I am very impressed by the quality and aesthetics of this laptop case. I previously used a North Face Laptop Backpack and decided after a few years and promotions that it was not longer professional to be carrying around a back pack. My only disappointments are the bag is a bit on the heavy side, and Buy.com failed to mention at the time I placed the order that they didn't actually have it in stock. It arrived 3 weeks later. It has a ton of convenient compartments to store and keep all of your items organized and protected. The padding around the notebook is solid. The shoulder strap is durable and securely attached with strong metal swivel clips (I really like the swivel clips).

I like the messenger style, its really comfortable. The bag has more pockets than I know what to do with! (Which is a good thing!) My Laptop feels vary safe in its compartment and does a good job protecting it from my everyday abuse!

I really like this bag it has a whole lot of pockets for everything. Being a women I dont need to carry a extra pocketbook. The only problem is that it seem heavy with the laptop in it. With all the different ways to carry it, it helps.

My last laptop bag costed 3X of what I paid for the Targus but carries no more that 1/2 of what I have in the Targus now. The dividers and separate compartments are nicely designed and made. The light weight construction is nice - hopefully durable.

This is a great laptop bag and for the price, I don't think there's any other laptop bag that can beat it. The bag is definitely NOT that "light weight" feel kind of bag, but feels very durable and secure. Glad I got this one!

I ordered this notebook case not expecting to much due to the low price. However, once I finally received the Targus case, I was pleasantly surprised (Buy.com failed to mention at the time of order placement that they didn't actually have any in stock...3 weeks later it finally arrived). It is well constructed and aesthetically pleasing. There are plenty of well thought out compartments to store and keep all of your items organized and protected. The padding around the notebook is sufficient. The shoulder strap is durable and securely attached with the strong metal clips (I have had straps on other cases unexpectedly come loose while left standing there helpless as my notebook tumbled to the ground). If your looking for a messenger style bag for your notebook that is more than just a big bag, this is the choice for you. I am using it to carry my 15" MacBook Pro.

I'm an overly organized person and I have lots of electronics. For about a year I was in search of a bag that had lots of little compartments for all my individual gadgets. This is the one. There are no less than about 12 compartments for all kinds of devices from video cameras to cell phones to ipods and all the cables to go with them. Not to mention and protective sleeve for a laptop and optional file folders. And you can wear this as a backpack or messenger bag...I love that feature. I got a GREAT deal ($15) on this but it's a great bag at any price.

This is a great bag for the right size laptop. If you have a wide laptop the bag will still work but the laptop won't lock in with the velcro strap. Not a big deal because the buckle keeps it in place. This bag is great for a student because it has lots of storage pockets. I couldn't figure out how the back pack straps attach. I gave it as a gift. Good value.
