Author Bio
John Boardman
John Boardman received his B.A. and M.A. from Magdalene College, Cambridge University. He was assistant director of the British School at Athens, Greece from 1952 to 1955, and then worked at Oxford University until 1978. At Oxford, he held posts at the school's Ashmolean Museum and as a professor of classical art and archaeology. He then accepted a teaching position at the University of Aberdeen, in Northeast Scotland. In the 1950s and 1960s, Boardman participated in archaeological excavations at Chios and in Libya. He is a former second lieutenant in the British army.
