I purchased this software for my 4 years old Windows XP computer and new Vista (64 bit laptop). I didnt get any performance improvement in the older XP system and this software doesnt work on the 64 bit Vista system. The technical support of this company is pointing to their web site to download the latest (old) software version.

Having suffered a "weary"computer for some time I decided to download a free 30 day trial . Download was very easy, and, after one deep clean a large quantity of 'junk' and removable errors were speedily eradicated from my machine. After only 3 days I took out a full subscription. My computer is again performing as quickly and as smoothly as when I bought it over 3 years ago. I unhesitatingly recommend "System Mechanic" to anyone experiencing a slow-down in their computer's efficiency.

Since I started using System Mechanic some 5 years ago, I’ve been able to relax and know that my computers are running at their best. These days with the latest version I don’t even have to remember to do the cleanup regularly because it’s all done in the background. It’s certainly the best value for money tune-up software that I know as well being the most thorough. It’s legal for three computers as well!

I am a long time user of System Mechanic. I'm not sure if V5 was their first release, regardless, I have found that over it's lifetime the software has worked flawlessly and have recently upgraded to V8. Getting what you pay for has always been the 'NEW NORMAL'. With System Mechanic you are definitely getting much more than you are paying for.

Having relied on my PC manufacturer's tune-up S/W, I switched to System Mechanic. There was a tremendous improvement in my PC's performance. Loading System Mechanic was easy and running it is even easier. It runs by itself, without slowing down the PC, and you can even select individual actions if you want. I found an improvement running the free trial version and when you run the full version (the one you buy), the PC ran even better. I highly recommend System Mechanic.

Really easy to use since the main tool is in the very middle of the window and you can fix everything with one button click. Plus comes with lots of little tools for those who like to take a more active roll in their pc maitenance. Plus Active care is great for keeping your pc running fast efficiently without having to think about it. My only complaint is the menu is so focused on being easy that it ends up hiding many useful tools and more detail on the problems it fixes would be nice. Overall though its a great value since it comes with 3 lisences( lots of people one more than one computer) and it brings many great utilities together in one place

System Mechanic has fixed my old computer. It is very easy to use and very effective. My computer was so slow I thought I was going to have to but a new one , but I went to the website and downloaded the trial version and was so impressed that I bought it right away. Iolo has made this software easy for anyone to use and understand. One thing I learned was that there were a lot of duplicate files on my computer that really slow things down and removing them sure made a difference. I have used a registry cleaner to try and speed things up , but nothing works like this software.I would definitely recommend this product. Thank You System Mechanic !!!!

I fixed my dying computer with System Mechanic. It’s true! My computer got so sluggish and balky I was considering how I was going to come up with the money to buy a new one. While doing some research on how to fix my problem I happened upon System Mechanic by accident and I’m so glad I did. I ran the “deep analysis” and presto my computer ran like its old self. Now a “quick analysis” once a week keeps it and my other two computers purring. That was two years ago and my computer is still running great. It is so reasonably priced that it is worth a try before lugging your computer off for expensive repairs (where the computer guy may charge you to run this very program for you). I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT!

System Mechanic 8 is a reasonably priced util that does what it says it will do. I run it on 3 home pcs--1 Vista and 2 XP machines. Each stays tuned and optimized by running System Mechanic in Active Care mode. I've never had any issues with this program and recommend it to all my pc tweaking buddies.

This very reasonably priced PC tool definitely does what it says it will do. I run it in Active Care mode on 3 PCs I've built--1 Vista machine and 2 XP machines--each with plenty of ram, so it runs unintrusively in the background while I go about my computing biz. Most of all I appreciate that so many housekeeping and optimization functions are packaged in this program. On top of that, I've never once had any issues with System Mechanic 8. I recommend it to all my PC tweaking buddies.

So easy to use. I feel perfectly safe with SM on my pc. It even told me I had a program running which I was sure I had uninstalled. Further deep checking found the program hiding - but SM had known it was there. Many free, legitimate programs around, but I'm happy to pay money for this one.

I've used this software for several years, and find it a very powerful tool which needs careful use. It allows one to use an automatic approach or to select carefully just what you want it to do at each step of the way. And to prevent the surprises other reviews have noted, one just needs to properly configure the software, and then choose the "choose for yourself" option for each action one takes. Used this way, it has always done a fine job for me, and gives me significant control over my pc environment.

4 of 5 Effective system management with a few drawbacks Friday, April 11, 2008

I enjoyed buying this here for the freebated price of $0, and installed version 7.5 on my system a year ago. By in large it does a reasonable job of keeping my system up and running but it does have a few quirks which are less that ideal. Periodically it takes over and does one of it's useful tasks such as "optimizing system memory" or "optimizing/backing up registry". These tasks eat up vast amounts of CPU time which basically means that unless your system has power to spare it's time to wander away and do something else until it's done making every thing better. It also want to update itself fairly frequently and nags you to do a restart about every other week. The restart process thereafter is fairly slow as it runs the system through a blue screen controlled update of "system hive" and "software hive" and a medium long list of other "hives". Not a HUGE problem, but only if you choose to do that restart when you are not otherwise wanting to use your system. Now at the price of FREE, there's not that much to complain about, however there are some shortcomings that you'll need to deal with. And in the world of system utilities, these really aren't all that bad.

System Mechanic 8.0 did speed up my desktop somewhat after running every tool provided. However, on my wife's laptop, which is extremely slow, it did very little to speed up it's performance. I say that with the rebates, which bring the cost down to $0.00, you do get what you pay for. Actually, that's to harsh. It's not a bad product, but didn't seem to live up to the claims made for it. It does help somewhat, which is always a good thing.

System Mechanic addresses many areas of your PC, but it is an "invasive" product meaning it will move registry files around causing other programs to have to be reloaded in order to run. Not only did I not notice an improvement in performance, due to other issues System Mechanic caused, I actually had a worse experience with my PC after installing it. I was unable to uninstall this software and had to revert to a previous Windows restore point in order to use my PC again. It looks good on paper, but the reality for me was a very bad experience. Please beware of this product.
