5 of 5 Norton Internet Secutity "The way to go" Tuesday, April 22, 2008 Gerald from Graham, Texas
I've been using Norton Products since the late 1980's, they work to bring a competitive product at a fair price and when you can get good rebates like you find on BUY.COM you can't go wrong. I placed the order one afternoon and received it 2 days later. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 NIS Saturday, April 19, 2008 A Customer from Naples, Florida
I've used his product for many years and have been pleased with its results. This (NIS 2008) seems to be working well. Was this review helpful?

2 of 5 Best off trying something else, I will next year.. Sunday, January 27, 2008 A Customer from Cleveland, OH
Seems to be doing it's job, finally, after a month of goofing around with the activation. The same thing happened last year. This crazy problem with the activation going on and off drove me nuts this year. When my activation went down, there was this big warning about how my machine was unprotected!!! Tech response (which by the way, acknowledged the problem) was lackluster if none at all for some of my inquiries. They seemed to be overloaded with calls. I am done with these guys. There are too many other good products out there and this company clearly has some internal problems if they can't even get their activation process to work properly. Makes me wonder if their software is actually protecting my computer. Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 Awful product. Do not Buy! Wednesday, January 23, 2008 A Customer from Orland Park, Illinois
I bought this product and it will not install on my machine. When it partially installs, it slows the machine down incredibly, re-booting the machine went from about 30 seconds to about 5 minutes, etc. and it causes all kinds of errors with other programs such as Excel. I have spent 5 days now and over 36 hours trying to get this installed. 4 of these days have been spent with about 8 different Symantec technicians who are at a loss as to what's wrong. All they have managed to do is screw up my machine's settings. They tell you they're going to call you back tomorrow and they don't. I have to get back to them and sometimes I have had to wait 2 hours online for them to work with me. I previously had Norton (2007 & 2006) installed on my machine. It worked then without problems, but the 2008 version seems to conflict with everything. It's also next to impossible to fully delete installed versions on your machine. It leaves craplets all over the place, buried deeply in your system even after using the Norton Removal Tool and even after the Symantec technicians try to remove it. Once you try to install this software, even the removal tool doesn't want to work until you remove some files manually from the registry. I have had to go into my registry files, program files, etc. to get it all out and even then I'm not sure if it's all out. I and the Symantec technicians have tried installing this from my disk, again from their website, from another user name, from a safe boot, from a normal boot, etc. I have a feeling that it screwed something up in my operating system, but I don't know what. Once I remove Norton though, everything seems to work fine with my machine. I'm not the only one who is having all kinds of unsolved installation issues with this product -- check the web. I have tried every suggestion that other users have posted out there and nothing worked. I shouldn't have to try all that though. It should be easy to use. If the Symantec technicians can't even make it work, that is not a good product! It should also be easy to un-install, but it's a nightmare. It seems to only work on new machines that have virtually no other software installed that it can conflict with. Symantec has been no help except for wasting my time and money. I'm currently unprotected. I probably should have kept the old version on b/c something was better than nothing even if it wasn't up to date. I'm probably going to try McAfee next. 4 of 5 NIS 2008 better then earlier versions. Friday, January 11, 2008 A Customer from New Jersey
I have been using NIS since it's inception, updating each year.
This is the best version yet.
NIS 2007 (as well as earlier versions) locked up my computer, using 99% CPU at times. I have not experienced that (so far) with NIS 2008.
This version is easy to use and set up is a breeze.

2 of 3 customers found this review helpful. 1 of 5 Worst decision I ever made! Wednesday, January 09, 2008 A Customer from Elizabethtown, PA
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! We were running NIS 2006 w/no problems, but it was time to renew subscription and I saw this offer. Figured this way I could get 3 PC's covered for the year for a better price. What a mistake! Had to uninstall NIS 06 to get this to install so my computer is not protected anymore. Used Symantec's own removal program as directed by a tech support person (after I tried to do it once w/normal uninstall). The new product will not install. They tell me I need to talk to their Enterprise support. So after spending 5 hours in online chats that were useless I then spent 3 hours ON HOLD and never got a real person to talk to. Had my husband download a new copy at work (61MB and we are on dialup at home) from website because they assured me this would work to fix problem. IT DIDN'T. Am returning the product to Symantec for a refund along with the 10 pages of online chat information and a separate letter to their CEO and Consumer Products head. Interestingly, this product is not even listed in their phone support list for issues.....makes you think that maybe they know it is so bad they don't want to even talk to you. Unbelievably bad design by their programmers. Won't ever buy it again because this is just awful. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Good for what it does, a little quirky. Monday, December 03, 2007 Ethan from Asheville. NC
I was surprised it did not transfer the settings from my older version of Internet Security and because it comes with the antivirus, my Systemworks Antivirus originally said it was out of date, and then finally one of the patches or updates fixed that. It's not as intuitive as the older version, but I am guessing spyware and all that stuff has gotten more involved too. Seems to require more reboots with its updates too. Works well blocking things and has a good tool for logging into sites and keeping credit card information. Was this review helpful?
