Features: DVD, Widescreen, Aspect Ratio 2.35:1, Dolby Digital (5.1), Behind the Scenes Footage When the DEA shut down its dummy corporation operation codenamed SWORDFISH in 1986, they had generated $400 million which they let sit around; fifteen years of compound interest has swelled it to $9.5 billion. A covert counter-terrorist unit called Black Cell, headed by the duplicitious and suave Gabriel Shear, wants the money to help finance their raise-the-stakes vengeance war against international terrorism, but it's all locked away behind super-encryption. He brings in convicted hacker Stanley Jobson, who only wants to see his daughter Holly again but can't afford the legal fees, to slice into the government mainframes and get the money. Editor's Note
Star John Travolta revisits the grinning villain territory he explored in BROKEN ARROW and FACE/OFF with this stylish, supercharged techno-thriller. He plays Gabriel, a charismatic, fast-living mystery man who, with help from his right-hand woman, Ginger (Halle Berry), recruits ex-con and former master hacker Stan (Hugh Jackman) to aid in a plan to steal billions from a secret government bank account. Stan reluctantly agrees to help in order to finance the legal battle for custody of his young daughter (Camryn Grimes). Meanwhile an FBI computer crimes specialist (Don Cheadle) is determined to find out what's about to go down, and plans to use Stan to find out.The movie amply earns its keep by cleverly zig-zagging away from audience's expectations and delivering many clever, pulse-pounding action set pieces--including an incredible opening explosion, a car chase through downtown Los Angeles replete with blazing machine guns, and a spectacular airborne climax. With the help of a propulsive electronica score by DJ Paul Okenfold, director Dominic Sena (GONE IN 60 SECONDS) lays down lots of style, and Travolta is mesmerizing in his juicy role.

First things first, this has got to be one of my favorite action movies i have ever seen. I promise that when you see this movie there will never be a point where you are wondering when it will be over. From the opening scene to the credits it is nonstop action and fun. Very nice film. Good action and very stylish but totally a pile of BS on the technology side of things. Come on Hollywood do a little research. Almost as bad those geek guys on the X-files. But it's a good film and has an awesome opening setup. Gotta give it all fives. Was this review helpful?

I have a pretty decent HT system & am a very picky DVD watcher. It takes near perfect video quality to impress me. My 64" HDTV reveals any flaws in the video, and just about any DVD has to compromise on video due to compression. The only DVDs that get my top video quality rating are pure digital transfers like Toy Story. Well to my surprise, this DVD had a pretty much FLAWLESS print. I was simply amazed, not a bit of compression artifacts or noise, just very slight edge enhancement at some points. Very sharp & detailed throughout. Dominic Sena ( Gone in 60 Seconds) is similar to Michael Bay in that they both use filters in every single shot. This adds a very nice "look" to the whole movie, with great color integration & themes. But on the other hand, nothing looks really "natural". But I like it. *Video 5/5
Audio-wise, a solid mix, too bad no DTS. Not a constant use of surrounds, but when they are used it's done very well. Opening scene has a very cool 360 explosion pan & the sound field is very well done. Certain scenes even had rear surround use that places the source just above your head, very cool. Deep bass extension throughout without being overdone. *Audio 4/5
The plot itself is ok, a little bit original, but not that much. It's decent enough to keep you entertained. *Movie 3/5
Definitely a reference quality DVD!
