4 of 5 Little heavy bag Monday, December 29, 2008 RK from hudson,nh
I bought this bag couple of months back.. Overall I am satisfied with the bag... But... the bag itself is little heavy and bottom padding is very hard to make flexible. After using it for couple of months stitching threads and company logs(snickered at handle bar) are coming out of shoulders straps and looks ugly to carry around when you go on official trips. Next time, I was thinking to buy other brands such as targus ... Thanks. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 2 years and counting Tuesday, November 18, 2008 A Customer from Cleveland, OH
I've had this bag about 2 years now and it's still going strong carrying around my Dell Inspiron 6400. Other reviewers have covered all the good things so I'll just give you a few not-so-good things ( and there really are only a few). The zipper to the main compartments usually needs two hands to get completely closed. This really isn't that big of an issue for me. The hold down strap for my laptop is losing it's elasticity, but it doesn't even really need it. Sometimes the bag wants to fall forward when heavily loaded, but I overcome that by just leaning it up against something or adjust the load. These are really minor issues and overall the bag has held up excellent and I would recommend it. I wish it came in other colors. Was this review helpful?
2 of 5 Very BRIGHT red Thursday, October 02, 2008 A Customer from Berkeley, CA
The backpack is much more red than the online pictures would suggest. I like bright colors but this red is too much for even me. It is well enough organized and durable but the red color almost makes it unusable. maybe if I wash it with some black dye.... Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Not much more to add Wednesday, September 24, 2008 Eric G from Burlington, NJ
I've had two large 1300 page law books with 3-300 page books and my large dell laptop plug in the larger compartment no problem. Also had my laptop among other things. It weighed 25lbs total and the straps were all sturdy as can be. No fear of tearing.
Only three things I'd change. First, seal off the back compartment from the front. The bottom is connected and sometimes papers or soft thin books slide under. Second, I'd love to have the option of easily removing the strap that connects the shoulder straps accross the chest. That thing is annoying when you don't need to use it on a regular basis. I wish I could take it off. Last, the front patch needs two zippers vs one, easy to forget to zip it shut and/or annoying to open.
Other than that, great packpack. Padding and airflow on the back are excellent.

5 of 5 Comfortable and Efficient Thursday, July 17, 2008 A Customer from Atlanta, GA
I have used many different kinds of bags for carying my heavy books and laptop. No matter what, my shoulders use to hurt and I would be totally tired after carrying the heavy stuff. However this backpack from Swissgear has been a real help. Its amazing padding on the back and the handles somehow dilute the weight of the backpack and I don't feel much weight. My shoulders dont hurt at all and I can comfortably carry it whole day around. The compartments within the bag are convenient for easy access even to the smallest thing. Overall a pretty neat deal for the price. I am completely satisfied with the product. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Best Backpack to buy... Thursday, June 05, 2008 Priyunk from New York
This is by far the best backpack so far among all the ones i have used. I went through many reviews on this site, and thought of giving it a try. The bag is very comfortable because of the cushions on the straps and on the back.
I have been using this since 3 months now and have found it tobe durable, confortable and stylish (compared to those ugly ones in the market these days!!
nobody can ever go wrong with this bet.. so go ahead!! Was this review helpful?

3 of 5 Broken on Arrival Friday, May 09, 2008 Michael from Gainesville, MO
This bag had a broken plastic strap clasp on arrival. The logo on the front of the bag was also falling off.
When I called the number on the bag I got an answering service with a call back time of 48 hours.
Also was made in China. Not what I expected from the makers of the Swiss army knife.
The bag looks good, just not sure about the durability. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Great Pack Tuesday, April 01, 2008 Forrester from Anoka MN
Lots of pockets and spaces. Carries fairly well but a 15' laptop and three decent size books is quite a load so don't plan on walking to far with that much. It is a great day pack with just the laptop and few essentials. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Typical Wenger Product Monday, March 31, 2008 Robert from Columbus, Ohio
The case was in excellent condition and met the expectations I set for our engineering staff. A good/excellent split in pockets to separate things that NEED separate space. I would recommend this bag to any student or professional needing good - long lasting <secure> storage on-the-go. Was this review helpful?

Yes. the adjectives above best describe this bag.
I have had this bag for more than two years now. It is extremely roomy. I have carried two laptops in the padded area. One Macbook 17" PRO and a 15.4" IBM Thinkpad! Not a problem at all.
The front compartment is simply inexhaustible. I can put a change of clothes and toiletries and it still has enough space to hold a couple of laptop cords. The side compartments hold more cables. The ipod compartment on top is very handy for your music, change, phone etc. There are two zipped pouches within your compartments for holding more cords. You have two additional side netted enclosures for stuff like bottles etc. (tho they are not roomy enough for all but the most thin water bottles) And this bag is still not done! I have space to keep business cards, CDs, pencils and pens etc in the front pouch and a couple of books in the open pouch. It is incredible how much you can carry and yet you can manage quite comfortably if you can handle the weight. It distributes the weight well too.
I have loaded this baby up with a lot of stuff on multiple trips. I have taken it across airports, muddy roads and even dropped it a couple of times with no impact on either the bag or its contents. It is the best. Just go and get it. Was this review helpful?

I purchased this bag a year ago and use it regularly to carry my laptop, accessories, books and folders, along with my personal items. My favorite feature is the personal compartment in the top that can hold your phone, keys, mp3 player, cash and change. My 15.5 inch Dell Inspiron 6400 fits snugly in the provided, padded complartment, along with 4 or 5 well stocked folders. The center, larger compartment holds my small bag of needed supplies including mouse, misc cords and connectors, power supply, hat, gloves (or a change of clothes). This compartment has an issue with the zipper. It is not a one hand operation due to the design of the bag. It is an inconvenience at times, but not enough to effect my rating all that much. A large open area in the front holds a few larger books, and is adjustable. The bag stands readily on its own (unless I overload it). The smaller compartment in the front can hold a cell phone and some other smaller items. There are two small mesh compartments in each of the larger compartment for pens, pencils and the like. There are drink holders on each side and two smaller, taller zipper areas, which I keep my phone charger, a knife and a few other small items. Overall a great bag so far. The bag is comfortable to carry around. I only wish it had the port on the front strap for the mp3 player like the Synergy bag, but you can survive without it. Overall a good buy, in my opinion. 2 of 5 Buy this backpack if you don't care about style Wednesday, December 12, 2007 A Customer from New Jersey
Good built quality and lots of pockets, but it's BULKY. I used this backpack for my laptop to work until I get comments like, "Are you going mountain-climing?". I ended up buying a Northface backpack and I love it. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Light, Roomy and Comfortable Tuesday, December 11, 2007 Louis from Chino Hills
Ive had this backpack for about a week now. Just like other Swiss gear I have, its very well built, roomy, and extremely comfortable to wear. I usually wear it over one shoulder, and the backpack distributes the weight very well.
I have a Dell Vostro 1000 laptop w/15.4" screen and it fits snugly. Not much wiggle room, so laptops with extended batteries just might not fit.
You can put ALOT of stuff in this backpack! I got this on sale, but I would have paid full price knowing the quality. You just cant go wrong with Swiss gear. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great bag for the money Tuesday, December 04, 2007 A Customer from Birmingham, AL
I purchased this bag a couple of months ago and am very pleased with it so far. The straps could be a little longer so that you can wear it lower on your back though (i feel like such a nerd with this thing hiked way up on my shoulders). The construction is top notch and i have this thing loaded down with stuff. It is very comfortable to wear, and has plenty of room for all of your gear. Was this review helpful?
1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 4 of 5 Very bag all around Wednesday, October 10, 2007 A Customer from SLC, UT
I used this pack for over 2 years without a problem, everyday to and from work with a very heavy 6lbs HP mobile workstation. I took it on over half a dozen business trips stuffing it under the plane seat. It was very reliable and durable with a ton of storage for all my gear, tech manuals, ipods, cables, laptop, etc..
That said... right before an international trip the zipper for the laptop compartment broke. Looking closer they used a less sturdier zipper on that than the other pocket, it didn't seem to make much sense. At this point it's useless and I have to toss it, so even though I really liked the bag I'm giving the durability a lower score. They should really have put more into a more sturdy zipper for the compartment containing the most important gear, the laptop. Was this review helpful?

It help me a lot, with carying my 15.4 inch laptop... that i can store safely on its laptop compartment. i can also put my portable canon printer. i can even put my mp4 player and my samsung nv10 on the music pouch. and because of its big bulky compartment of its main buddy i can put lots more things on it. Im glad i buy one... I own a stylish BLACK Maxxum Computer Backpack... that i love to use...
Anyway, i have one comment, Why there is no BLACK color on your list of MAXXUM color, just blue and red? Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 It Hauls EVERYTHING! Friday, August 10, 2007 A Customer from Dallas, TX
This somewhat-pricey backpack is an awesome buy. This thing holds so much stuff it's incredible! In addition to my laptop it has a huge storage section which easily holds an Xbox 360 with room to spare. Side pockets hold a water bottle on each side. Under that, pockets hold your laptop plug and and cables you may need. Front section holds any writing utencils, plus cell phone, charger, keys, etc. Also has a pouch for an iPod with a small hole to put your headphone cord through.
PROS: So much storage space! Shoulder straps stretch and flex so your load doesn't hurt your shoulders. Padded back support and cushioned shoulder straps.
CONS: Price. I wouldn't have bought it without a gift card I had. Also the chest straps can't be moved up or down, only tightened.
OVERALL: Great bag for young road warriors who want something more stylish and rugged than a briefcase. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Lots of storage with questionable durability Tuesday, July 17, 2007 A Customer from Milford, CT
After reading the reviews online and a quick inspection of the product at my local BestBuy I decided that I could not turn down the sale price at Buy.com (half off the retail at BB). First off there are plenty of pockets for most of my storage needs. In fact I’m trying to figure out what additional stuff I can pack into my bag. My IBM T60p is easily stowed in the laptop compartment. The grab handle on top of the bag feels great in the hand when carry on back is not an option. Another great feature the quick access pocket that is located on the top of the bag that can also house your iPod. The color schemes (mines black, red and grey) look great in my opinion and the detailing is fantastic. Every zipper and strap is topped by the Swiss/Wenger logo.
<p>
I can carry the bag laden with about 25 to 30 lbs (including laptop) without major discomfort. Minor discomfort arises when moving a faster than walking speeds, the bag starts to bounce even with the chest strap in position. The bouncing causes the lower back padding to rub rather uncomfortably against my lower and mid back.
<p>
My major gripe comes from the fact that after 3 weeks of daily use I'm beginning to see signs of fraying around the edges, threads that come loose in the zipper seams and inside the shoulder straps. To be fair my daily commute consists of an hour and half train ride that can be rough on my bag. The only other complaint is that there are no loops to hold pens/pencils/etc a minor oversight.
<p>
I would recommend this bag only if its on sale. My jaw dropped when I compared the prices on Buy.com (no I don’t work for them) vs BestBuy.

5 of 5 Best backpack ever bought Friday, July 13, 2007 A Customer from Mt. Clemens, MI
This is hands down the best backpack I've ever purchased. I bought a Chrome messenger laptop bag for about $120 last year, but it just started hurting my shoulder after loading it with books. I'm glad I replaced it, and I can carry a lot more without strain. This holds my 15" laptop, cords, PowerShot camera, and my portable printer with room to spare for a few other small things. I take it with me everywhere, and everything seems to be secure. The extra open pocket on the back is very convenient as I don't have anything to zip and unzip all the time. The carrying handle is very durable and usable. In all, I haven't had this thing for more than a month, but it seems like it's going to hold its own, and I would highly recommend it to anyone with a 15" laptop. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Pockets Galore Tuesday, July 10, 2007 M from San Diego
This is by far the most comfortable backpack I own. Even with a 15.4" laptop and 2 books, it feels good to wear. There a great number of pockets. I don't like the big open pocket between the small front pocket and middle pocket. (It flops open when you set the backpack down.) Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 Comfortable backpack that I ever used Tuesday, July 03, 2007 Kalai from Edison, NJ
I carry laptop everyday to work along with lots of stuff. I had tried several backpack so far since I got the backache problem. This backpack is really comfortable with all the back support and it is very well balanced. I didn't feel the weight compared to my old one and I didn't get any backpain even if I carry it throughout my train journey. I am using it for the past 3 weeks and I love it. I had given organization to 4 points since the front pocket doesn't have much provisions compared to my older bags and I also had some loose threads on the sides which was looking hard until you carefully cut it out using sharp scissor. 5 of 5 Save your back, keep everything together Thursday, June 21, 2007 mmy from Arlington, VA
I've had this backpack for about 2 months and I love it! My commute to the metro/office has me walking about 2 miles every day. I have a Dell 15.4" widescreen and I was using the standard Dell messenger bag for the past year-uncomfortable strap, bounces all over the place, etc. This backpack is very comfortable and feels lighter than a regular messenger bag (but it is also wider). There are so many pockets that you can keep everything organized easily. I also like the fact that I can put my gym clothes in the outer pocket without having to bring a separate bag to work. There's also a quick access zipper pocket on the top where you can keep your metro card, sunglasses, mp3 player, etc. without having to dig through all of your other stuff in the bigger pockets. You can't beat the price and it arrived within a week using Super Saver shipping! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Laptop Bag for Travel/Work! Tuesday, June 19, 2007 rwong from redwood city, ca
I bought this laptop computer bag because my other more expensive bag did not have enough space to store all my things. I use this bag for business travel and I needed a bag that could hold my 15.4 Dell and Accessories, Work Files, Manuals, GPS Navigator, Ipod, Phone, Radio, Pens, Batteries, Software, Flash Drives, Meds, Glasses, Coffee Mug/Bottle of Water and an occasional shirt\pants\sweats. This bag can handle it all! It is a big bag and I appreciate that. Unlike a select few, I also appreciate the looks of this bag. I am a bit amazed that I could purchase a bag like this so cheap. This bag is well engineered and has a quality look and feel. I thought so much of this bag that I bought another one for back up\leisure. You will not be disappointed. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great backpack Monday, June 18, 2007 Joe T from Riverside, CA
I bought one of these about 2 years ago and have used it ever since. I travel a lot and this pack makes it easy. Room for the laptop and accessories, room for the headphones a couple of books and DVDs for the flight. It is easy to remove the laptop for security checks as well. I did have the plastic buckle (left side) that holds the outer pocket on break and I used some colorful wire to repair it. Overall, I really like the backpack! Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 UGLY IMO Saturday, June 16, 2007 bmun from sacramento, ca
This backpack is amazing--from well-made zippers to rugged, sturdy construction, it is the ultimate hiking backpack, or backpack for storing lots and lots of stuff. BUT if you have just a laptop and a book u need to carry, then you do NOT need this. Sure, it's super comfortable, but if you put it on and look in the mirror...you look ridiculous. It is UGLY. It is super big, and I dont mean tall--it is wide, no matter how much stuff you store in it. If you are worried at all about how you'll look wearing it, do NOT get this. You will regret it. If you dont care and want something lasting years and years, then GET THIS. Was this review helpful?

The zippers have heavy finger holds made of some metal. They look cool and are really sturdy, but after scraping against my car a couple of times I took them off and replaced them with leather string. Total weight must've been like .5 lb.

I bought this backpack along with my sony vaio sz last summer and I think this backpack "might" have led my sz into repairing lcd and other internal problems. If you put too much stuff into backpack then your laptop whether vaio sz or not might be broken and need to repair....unfortunately I put too much stuff around my backpack all the time and now I only carry my school stuff and my laptop on my separate laptop bag and after that I don't have problems with my laptop anymore....so if you plan to carry your vaio sz or other laptop ALONG with many heavy textbooks, BUY a separate laptop protector case AND put in the backpack....I think that would solve this issue. 4 of 5 Creatures of Habit Take Note! Wednesday, February 28, 2007 Greg from Kansas Citry, MO
For those of you who are creatures of habit about the bag you use for work stuff...take note. Being a creature myself, I gave up my bag of almost 6 years for my new SwissArmy backpack! It's the best piece of equipment I've ever owned. It took me 15 minutes to get aclimated to using the bag. It feels lighter..even fully loaded and carries all my stuff SOOO well. I could go on and on, but won't here. Suffice to say...it's the perfect computer bag/travel companion for the busy executive on the go! Buy one!! Was this review helpful?

After using this backpack for a couple of months, I feel ready to review it. My Acer 5100 15.4" laptop fits perfectly, is well cushioned, and I have had no difficulty getting it in and out of the protective sleeve. This backpack has great space for other equipment like PDA, mp3 player, and I have even packed a change of clothes for the gym along with my computer gear. It is well balanced when I set it down and has a great handle for picking it up. I don't know what else you would want on a backpack. This thing is great! Was this review helpful?

I could not have asked for a better Back pack. Plenty of large zippered pockets to hold a laptop, books, and a whole lot of anything else you want. It is comfortable plus heavy duty. This should be the last backpack I will need to buy for quite a while.

5 of 5 Wenger makes the best bags in the market Saturday, February 10, 2007 Hari from Atlanta, GA
I have bought 3 bags made by Wenger so far, two for carrying laptops and one for carrying books to school. I found that the bags were of excellent quality. Even after using the bags for 3 to 4 years on an every day basis, there is hardly any wear and tear and the bag is as sturdy as ever.
Padding for the laptop is good. Lots of pockets. Buy it, you won't regret it.

5 of 5 Made of high quality materials Tuesday, January 23, 2007 Randy from Emeryville, CA
I have finally found a backpack that can take the abuse I give and has the features I need. It enables me to comfortably carry my heavy 15.4 in. laptop, and loads more stuff. Good protection for the computer and nice padding for my back. The straps are comfortable too. It has many different sized zippered compartments which allows you to separate and organize all your stuff. It is made of very good materials and I can tell it will last a long time. It is well designed and looks good too. Worth more than twice what I spent. Was this review helpful?
2 of 4 customers found this review helpful. 2 of 5 Disappointment from Wegner Tuesday, January 23, 2007 Hal from Santa Cruz, CA
Closing zipper on larger (computer) compartment not easily done without releasing fasteners on outside compartment. This is a hassle at airport security where the backpack must be opened and closed twice in a short period to remove then replace computer for inspection.
Main compartment zipper comes open unless both pulls are all the way down to the bottom of the same side. Many times the backpack has opened up as I was walking through an airport or meeting place.
Contents shift between 2 major compartments at the bottom due to lack of a separation all the way down.
Very disappointing design from an ordinarily highly competent company. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Switched from messenger to backpack Wednesday, November 22, 2006 steve from Los Gatos, CA
With a little trepidation I bought this backpack to replace the messenger bag that I have been using for some time. I will admit that with the equipment load that I carry on business trips my rt shoulder would get sore when walking marathon lengths through airports.
Just returned from my first travel with the new bag and I'm kicking myself for not buying this bag earlier. The bag holds my laptop (a bona fide boat anchor) well and I don't even feel the weight. Many many pockets to fit ancillary stuff in, and the full document pocket is very handy.
All in all, this is an awesome bag, and for 37 bucks delivered a real steal. (It just dropped another two bucks as of today)
