The Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli has gained a good deal of popularity in recent years, and his platinum record sales and sold out concerts show no sign of waning. Andrea's passionate voice is clearly the reason for his appeal, and it is the power of his voice that carries SUENO. The album is a special edition of the Italian release SOGNO (three of the songs are performed in Spanish here). The performances are lush, beautiful and in the same vein as his previous pop material. "Canto De La Tierra" soars with feeling, as the Joy Singers Of Venice back Andrea. "The Prayer" (with Celine Dion) masterfully melds the two artists' talents in a tender ballad. Produced, arranged, and orchestrated by Mauro Malavasi, SUENO fortunately keeps the Tesh-like arrangements to a minimum. The musicianship is top notch all around, with "A Volte Il Cuore" containing some flavorful, yet subtle keyboard programming. SUENO is a wonderful introductory opera record, with the three Spanish versions as alternative tracks included.
