| | Professional Reviews | Razor Reel 9 of 10 Intelligent horror movies are sparse, but they do exist! "Sublime" is one of those few 'cerebral' horror movies...The film is foremost an enjoyable movie that starts of as a family film and gradually changes into an erotic nightmarish movie, filled with flashbacks of better days mixed with moments of harsh reality...George Grieves (Tom Cavanagh) a rich middle class white American who celebrates his 40th birthday surrounded by his family and friends! Although he thinks his live is OK and that he makes everyone happy, his wife (Kathleen York) wants to leave him for a certain period to do some voluntary work abroad...Nevertheless the family is together for his birthday party and as a true patriarch, he sits in de middle of the table, his disciples around him. What follows are flashes from small talk conversations and trivia on all kinds of subjects, but mostly on the American health care system, since George is scheduled for a routine examination the day after...This is the story in a handful of lines; one that brings us a truly good film. Unfortunately, this film was given bad critics and reviews probably by people that prefer lots of bloodletting or gore and splatter! This film, with the exception of a couple of scenes, does not deliver such things, instead it gives you a nice film with master performances and a horrifying tale.
