| Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, the new Cuvette 44 from St?hrling Original expresses elegance and grace personified in a mechanical automatic timepiece. Displaying a Jonequille swirled sun-ray dial, the Cuvette 44 hosts one of St?hrling Original?s most exquisite dials. And this new incarnation of the Cuvette is a full four millimeters wider than its archetype at a graceful 44 millimeters in diameter! While the new larger case is the key variance from its forefather, size alone is certainly not the only disparity from the original; the new Cuvette 44 boasts attractive elegant italicized Arabic numerals which have all been individually applied to the dial. With a date aperture at the three o?clock position, the circumference of the stunning dial presents a printed railway minute track. And complementing the sophisticated look of the Cuvette 44 are the diamond-cut dauphine style hands. The ultra-slim ?T? style knurled edge crown measures six millimeters in diameter, a miniscule two millimeters in width with 36 teeth, and is adorned with the St?hrling signature ?S? logo. With its new size and look, the primary charm of the newest entry in the Cuvette Series remains its captivating gracile case. Constructed of solid 316L surgical-grade stainless steel, the slender bowl-like housing measures an astonishingly scant ten-and-half millimeters from the crystal on the top of the case to the crystal window on the bottom! The 10.5mm thickness (or should we say slimness?) is just about as thin as any mechanical automatic timepiece can get! With its unique shape, whereby the case widens from bottom to top (like a bowl or stadium), the Cuvette 44 gives the illusion of being even skinnier than it already is! And speaking of illusion, this astonishing case creates a misbelief that it is even larger than its new 44mm size, which is certainly part of the charm of the Cuvette 44. This misconception is owing to its abnormally thin bezel. At less than 2mm in width, the rounded polished convex bezel allows for an even larger view of the dial than would ordinarily be seen in a 44mm timepiece! The Cuvette 44 plays like a 46 or 47mm timepiece in its formal 44mm case. So in effect, you have a watch that appears larger and thinner than it already is! (If only we could appear taller and slimmer!) The look of the Cuvette 44 is positively perplexing and it is attributable to its innovative case. The engine that drives the Cuvette is the faithful St?hrling caliber ST-90018 movement. Beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour with 36 hours of autonomy, this 20-jewel mechanical automatic movement delivers the simple time with hours, minutes and an offset second hand sub dial with a quick-set date complication at the three o?clock position. This trusty slim machine is clearly visible through the 316L surgical grade stainless steel screwed-in case-back and is gloriously decorated with Cotes de Gen?ve and its Damier finished rotor. The chic Cuvette 44 is water resistant to 165 feet and is mounted on a tapered 24-millimeter wide alligator embossed genuine French leather padded-strap.
